We Had a Tornado Tonight! ***UPDATE***

OMGoodness! We had several tornados touch down tonight in and around my town. The storm has been gone for about an hour. I have lived here in eastern New Mexico all my life. We have had scares, but nothing like this. I was watching the news for info, my DS was in the closet, and all of the sudden huge softball size hail started to hit. I dropped the remote and ran to the closet. For about 3 minutes it sounded like my house was going to explode.

The news is reporting that there is significant damage in and around my town. We just have a few leaks from some skylights. My brother is a city dispatcher. I spoke to him briefly, and all he said was there are lots of reports of damage.

My BFFs father had to drive to find if she was okay, because her phone lines were down. He says he had to drive over lots of fences, etc in the roads.

I was on the dis when it hit. My first thought as my computer screen blanked??? "OH NO! I HOPE MY COMPUTER WON'T CRASH!" Of course, that was before I thought my house was going to blow down. I'm glad to be back on the dis and safe! All of my family and friends are okay as far as I know!

I hope everyone is okay! We get them every so often here - I've never seen one, but 20 people died in neighboring counties in February.

Wow! I'm glad you're all safe! That must have been terrifying.

We had one in our town about a mile away, but you couldn't feel anything at my house.

Goofyluver just called and the damage is much more than they thought during the night. Just around the corner from her house the tornado did soem damage....they are saying between 6-10 tornados touched down yesterday!!
Houses demolished, schools ruined, and several neighborhoods had massive damage!!! Their is an RV on top of the Bowling Alley!!!
Asking for pixie dust.....all of our family is accounted for....just send well wishes for those who have lost so much!!!!

Okay, I ventured out. The damage is very widespread and severe. We have two schools with heavy damage. Whole homes are gone. Roofs are stripped. There are power lines down everywhere. Trees uprooted. Cars tossed, cars flipped. Whole neighborhoods on one side of town are gone. A trailer park was totally demolished, with most trailers being flipped. There are livestock roaming the roads in these neighborhoods.

Literally, around the corner from me homes are missing roofs, etc. An RV on my corner was turned over on top of a home. I feel so blessed. I had no idea. We are so lucky. My boss's husband has a head injury. But, most of those who I care for are okay and their homes are okay.

Glad you're OK! Stay safe! Prayers for everyone affected. Tornados are such forces of nature--probably the most unpredicatble of all. So scarey!

Tornados are so scarey we have them all the time. Fortunately our town hasn't had any major damage in over 15 years. Always a town or two away from us.

I am glad you and yours are all ok and thank goodness for it for it sounds like it was very close to you.

I am so upset. I didn't know how severe it was. Parts of our town are gone. I ventured out and thought everyone's home must have come through because mine did. Uh-uh...whole neighborhoods are destroyed. Most people have no power.

I am so glad you are safe. It seems like tornadoes are happening in areas that normally don't experience them. We had a couple last month. It's so scary!! Prayers for your community.
