Everything was wonderful!!
We arrived Oct. 8. Avis rental car was so easy. Our car wasn't ready so they gave us a free upgrade. We checked into CSR. We didn't get Cabanas section, but we got Ranchos, which is what dh wanted. I swear our room in 7B wasn't close to anything. DH thinks it was close enough to the pool and bus stop #4. It took me 30 minutes to walk over to the Pepper Market, get some breakfast, and walk back to the room. next time I think I'll request Casitias 1. But the resort is lovely and we would stay there again. I did have to call to have three of the four light bulbs replaced....how could they not notice they were burnt out? and I get get double charged for the luau dinner, but it was fixed quickly.
We went to MNSSHP. I wish I had some good info, but our ds got sick and so we left after only a couple of hours. It had been a very long day with the flight and all.
Lunch in the castle was fabulous! We saw lots of characters in MK and got our pictures with most of them. Wishes is AMAZING! We spent two full days in MK and loved every second of it. Breakfast at Crystal Palace was really good. We got some amazing pictures of the kids and castle with no one in sight. The Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Railroad were big hits.
Epcot is a blast. Anytime we had an hour to burn we were on our way to Epcot. I think we went 4 times. We spent a few evenings and then 1 full day...I think it totaled out to about 2 full days. This is my dh and ds's favorite park. Mission: Space and Test Track are ds favorite rides. Really he loves everything about Epcot. The Coral Reef is so good. We had seats right on the glass....it was really neat. My dd, 18 months, freaked when the scuba divers came in, but it was still neat. Beirgarten is FANTASTIC!! I was pleasantly surprised. We sat with some really nice people. The man was from Germany and he thinks the food is delish! I agree. We had a great view of Illuminations on the bridge between UK and France.
MGM Studios is a lot of fun. I wish we had spent more time there. ToT is so much fun. DS, 7, didn't care for it, but he rode it twice. He really likes the Stars Wars thingie ride. Playhouse Disney was lots of fun. Honey I srunk the kids playground had some unruley kids. Man, parents need to watch thier kids better! MGM mongrams hats whereas, MK does stitching. I think momgramming is worth the money.
AK is OK. We rode the Dinosaur ride, but didn't really care for it. We did see Tarzan Rocks, but I think it goes a bit long. DS got sick so we left early. We missed some of the best parts, but ds wants to go back.
The luau was really great!! I almost cancelled it because of all the bad reviews. I am so glad we went!! The story line is hokey, but the food is really good and the dancing is fun to watch. Both of my kids were interested in it. Really, I couldn't have asked for better kids the entire trip.
Chef Mickey's was a lot of fun! DS favorite meal of the trip.
Kennedy Space Center was really interesting. There is so much to see. I really underestimated how much time we would be there. Cocoa beach, well, it rained all day, but we still took our kids to see the ocean. The waves were huge and loud. But ds and dh still waded out just a bit. DD was scared. Ron Jons Surf Shop is really neat.
Dh wants me to thank you for the tips, especially the tip about asking to ride in the front of the monorail. He and ds really liked it. DS honked the horn. Fastpass and Rider Switch worked liked a charm. The crowds were on the low side and most rides were only a 15-20 minute wait. Dh and ds did wait 30 minutes for Space Mountain and 40 minutes for Test Track, but those were the longest waits (we waited 45 minutes for a bus to go to MGM...one bus was broken down). I also underestimated how tired ds would get. We rented a double stroller and it pushed effortlessly. DS, 7, weighs 70 pounds and dd, 18 months, weighs about 25 pounds. Our Brita water bottles worked great. I went to Publix to buy a little bit of breakfast stuff and that worked out.
Our vacation was perfect!! We've been watching our videos over and over---the kids love seeing themselves on TV. I've taken 207 of my favorite pictures and made a slide show with some Disney music that we've shared with our family (I love my Roxio program and dvd burner). I think we took close to 500 pictures (some were deleted) and 3+ hours of video. Now, where can I go to have VHS video put onto DVD??
