We had a blast at the Main Street Barber Shop (pics)

Cool pics! My DS and I may have to check this out the next trip. This time around we got matching temporary Mickey tatoos on our arms. I'm sure it will go over well at the office, given the reaction to my tatoo this time around. :rotfl:

So now what does it cost for a male haircut... and do they always color and pixie dust it?

this is going to sound mad but in sept 2003 - i went to main street and asked two people in suits (they may have been managers) where the barbers was - they said it closed down or something???!!!! (maybe they didn't understand my accent)

why is the barbers located exactly please?

The Barbershop used to be in a different location on Main Street - maybe there was some "downtime" between when the old one closed and when the new one opened. That could explain why it might have been closed when you were there in 2003.

You have the choice of color or no color. dust, etc... the cost was $17, it is $17 for adults and $14 for children.

Is it truly a traditional barber shop for men and children, or do they cut women's hair also? I think my sister would enjoy it.

My DS(14) getting his first "Magic Kingdom" hair cut!

We are heading to WDW on June 1 and our daughter turns 3 at the end of June. We have been waiting to get her first haircut until we get down there so that she can have her first haircut at WDW! She looks like such a rag-a-muffin! Her hair is all over the place! We've almost caved, but no scissors have touched that hair yet, and none will until our first night at WDW!

What kind of wait time is there? We are hoping to arrive at 4:00pm on our first day there and the haircut is first on our list. Is there typically a long wait? Do we need to arrive before a certain time, for example, is there a cutoff time where they don't take any new customers?

I honestly think the barber shop is one of the best deals at WDW. The kids cuts are cheaper than any place around here, and Michael has yet to charge my DH full price considering it takes all of about 2 minutes to trim what little hair DH has

I think the price was somewere around $15 for an adult haircut. They'll aslo just add the color and pixie dust for $7. The colors stayed all day but did was out easily. I recommend against resting your head on a white towel though... Also, I had one of the mickey heads stuck on my face next to my eye all day, just to be decorative, but the color from it stained my face for a few days. Good thing I was in disney with a bright pink mickey shaped spot on my face.

The last time we were there, it was about a 20 minute wait. But, it's fun watching others get their hair cut. While we waited I started talking to a very nice young man, who was all by himself. When I asked him if he was traveling solo, he said no, he wasn't traveling at all...he was a CM at WDW. That most of the guys really did get their hair cuts at the Main St. Barber Shop!!!
As far as the time they stop, they do close at 5. We have gotten there early in the morning, when they first open, and on a week-day. That works out the best for us. But, we aren't in a big rush to do the attractions so don't mind the wait, if there is one.
