We got waitlisted for AKV

I am really bummed, we are waitlisted for Feburary for AKV, so right now we are set with SSV.

Is there usually a lot of people a head of you on a waitlist and is there anyway to know how many are before you? We are very new to the whole DVC, just signed up on Wednesday!

Hi, What dates are you WL for in February?? Because Pres. Day week is VERY popular. And how many days?? A WEEK might be hard to get but a few days would be easier. Could you get any of your nites at the AKV?? Sometimes taking that chance of having to move will get you your days one by one.This is what I usually do, take the nites I can get where I want and waitlist for the rest. I do make a BACK UP res. and risk moving Good Luck! Joan

The problem with waitlisting day by day is that it is automatic. You can't say to MS, well, this time I don't want that day. So you could have two days at SSR, followed by one night at AKV, then back at SSR for two nights. I don't like to move around that much.

So am I better off staying at AKV then switch to SS? The only day that isn't open at AKV is the last night of our stay. I think I might call MS tomorrow and HOPE that I can just do that. Can I then just get waitlisted for the one day?

YES,If AK is where you want to stay,just waitlist for the last night. You could also ask if that night is available on a cash res.with a DVC discount?? You can then have the res.linked and will not have to move. The nice part of the cash res. is you do not pay now and it can be cancelled(I think 5 days out??) So you DO have a room if your waitlist does not come thru and if it does you can just cancel the cash res. I have a cash res. thru MS for the WL in February it is a SATURDAY night and I did not want to use points.(because I MAY neeed them for a QUICK Christmas trip ) But the Thursday and Friday I used points for and I MAY switch the Sat. cash res. over to points if we do not use the points in Dec. Can you tell I just my DVC!! Especially for its flexibility! Joan

Hi, I think the discount is 25%, if available. We are in RI and have a school winter break that is always President's Week. So I usually add on a few days to my DS vacation and we do a 10 day trip to WDW! This year we will be there 2/14 until 2/24. I have my DVC res.(3 nites WLV,5 nites BCV and 2 not yet decided) BUT not my flights. SWA is the ONLY airline that flies NonStop to MCO from PVD(RI-airport) and the dates are SUPPOSED to open Monday! WELCOME HOME!! We have owned DVC since 1993,and have done 3 add ons. I hope you and your family ENJOY DVC as much as my family does! Joan

Thanks so much Joan! We are also waiting for SWA to open for Feb, glad to know it's Monday! I am sure that we will love DVC. We will be down there the 12th to the 18th of Feb.

We are new with all this, just got into in on Wednesday this week.

Welcome home! DW and I just joined AKV in July. Our first trip home will be July 2008. Godd luck with booking your feb trip.

Well I called and was able to switch to AKV for all but the last night of our stay. We are on the waitlist for that day. There were no rooms for the discount avail, so I am just going to wait a little while longer and might just go ahead and stay somewhere else the last night.
