We were out talking with neighbors last night when we noticed what appeared to be a porch light on across the way....next the lights popped on in the window of the house we were standing in front of.....then the street lights slowly began to light up.

You should have heard the cheer which went up.

Felt a little guilty though, knowing how others were still doing without.

On a positive note, the weather in Pensacola has been absolutely fantastic since the hurricane. It's still hot during the day if you're in the sun, but there has been a north wind blowing the whole time, and the humidity has been real low. The night time temps have been in the mid 60's which is real good sleeping weather.

An observation....without power, everyone is outside, walking chatting, etc. The lights come on, everone runs inside and shuts the windows, like watching a turtle draw up into his shell.

Things are getting better.

Just curious stevenpensacola, what's the first thing you want to do know that you have your power back on? :)

My wife and kids went to her brothers' where they had all the comforts. She arrived back about two hours before the power came on. She's been gone since Friday.

so....

Number one was a HOT SHOWER :hyper:

So glad to hear about the power. Everyone in P'Cola and surrounding areas have been in our hearts & prayers. We were hit with Frances, but not as badly. Keep us posted on how things are going around your area.

Ohhh I know that feeling of the power coming back on and being SO VERY thankful. It was still daylight out when ours came on, I wouldn't have known cuz we shut of the breakers to the big stuff in the house. DH, however, put on one of the clock radios so that music would play when the power came back on.

I was laying in bed reading. He had fallen asleep on the screened patio. All of sudden I hear music. I jumped up so fast I almost fell over myself. I then started running around trying to decide what to do first. Ran over turned on the breakers to everything and then decided to do laundry. ROFL

I went out to wake up DH to tell him the good news, but he was TOTALLY out. Poor guy, he had just worked a bunch of 12 hours shifts.

Congratulations! After the big blackout, I felt like we won the lottery when the electric came back on!
