We gave away our unused FP's...

Did anyone else do this? We were in MGM in October. I don't know how this happened, but we were able to walk on TOT a few times, but my BIL had obtained FP's for it for about two hours later.

When it was time to use the FP for TOT, none of us felt like going on it. Between the heat, just eating lunch, and having ridden it a few times in a row, it was just too much. No one in our group wanted to go.

So we gave six FP's away. My DH said that the people that he gave the FP's to were soo happy. It was a nice feeling.

Did anyone else ever give their FP's away?

Oh yes, we have done this. I did this at AK and the couple looked us like we had two heads. We had to explain the fastpass sytem to them.

Once, my parents met us (hubby, me, two daughters) at EPCOT later in the day and we were telling them how great Soarin was. My hubby and I gave them our fastpasses and they went to take our DDs. We were sitting at a table waiting for them, when they came running back, saying that someone offered them four more fastpasses! (whoever you are....THANKS!!! ) So we got to ride together. Plus, we made another couple pretty happy too when we gave them our extra two fastpasses. It's a nice way to spread the magic.

btw....all six of us riding Soarin together was one of the highlights of our trip!

We arrived in Orlando around 3:00 in the afternoon this past July, and we immediately headed to MGM. While we were walking through the parking lot, a nice couple gave us FPasses to the Rockin Roller Coaster. We were thrilled! In return, we did the same a few days later to the Tower of Terror. It was extremely hot and crowded that day, and the family we gave them to was obviously grateful. It was definitely a warm, fuzzy moment!

I was in a position to do this twice during our May trip. Here's an excerpt from my trip report:

On our way out of Splash Mountain, it was just about 3:45 p.m., the opening of our original FastPass window. As we exited past the very end of the now 70 minute stand-by line, I tried looking out for a family of three, and when I saw one I asked if there was a party of three. The two women in their 20's and a young boy that I saw spoke up that they were a party of three, and I asked them if they wanted Splash FastPasses that were good immediately. They didn’t know how to react at first because they said they didn’t know what a FastPass was or why it would be helpful to them. By rights, I should have just said “Nevermind” and given them to someone who knew what they were getting, but after a quick explanation and some squeals of happiness they jumped out of line and thanked me profusely. As we walked in the same direction they told us what nice people we were, and I retorted that they wouldn’t think so if they knew us in real life. One of the women replied to me, “Oh yeh, well you wouldn’t think we were very nice, either, if you knew what we were doing 10 minutes ago.” If my son weren’t with me I would have asked, but I didn’t dare do it with him in tow because I couldn't be sure what the answer would have been. Anyway, another Disney good deed accomplished.

Yep, we gave (and received!) Fastpasses nearly every day of our trip last month.
It made the trip a little extra fun!

We always do this.
Whenever we are about to leave one of the parks, I go and get 4 Fastpasses to give away to someone who is entering as we are leaving.

I gave away one Fastpass to Soarin during our visit to a woman who was riding alone and had a good 30-45 minute wait ahead of her. She seemed like she was in shock and accepted it, but I never did see her on my FP line (I had a 10-minute wait on the FP line!). I had one more (my DH had already been on the ride the standby way and my son did not want to ride, hence the two extra passes) but could not find another single rider to take it. I put in a conspicuous spot near The Land--hopefully someone saw it and used it!

Can someone explain the fastpass system to me please

Because many of the popular rides often have long lines, Fastpass was created. I'm going to quote the U.G. book:

The basic purpose of the FASTPASS system is to reduce the waiting time for designated attractions by more equally distributing the arrival of guests at those attractions over the course of the day.

When you insert your admission pass into a FASTPASS time clock (these machines are located near the entrance of each FASTPASS attraction) the machine spits out a small slip of paper. Printed on it is the name of the attraction & a specific one hour time window, for example, 1:15-2:15, during which you can return to enjoy the ride.

When you report back during your 1 hour window you get to enter the special FASTPASS return line.


In other words...you get to cut ahead of all the people waiting in line who do not have a FASTPASS. FANTASTIC!

This is a nice way to make someone's day---and it's also nice when someone offers their FP to us. Kind of a random act of kindness.

It just seems like such a nice thing to do.. and we'll probably park hop anyway, so we'll get some and hand them to another couple on the way out

We always give ours away if we don't use them. It makes us feel good to see people so happy about recieving them, lol!
