We accepted an offer back in Jan but with solicitors and other people progressing it all so slowly it felt as if the sale would never be finalised. Well yesterday they finally exchanged contracts and tomorrow the sale should complete and the estate agents will release the keys to the new owner. She's a single lady in her twenties, first time buyer and so excited about finally being a homeowner. I ended up meeting her entire family I think as every time she came by for any reason she had sisters, brother or parents along so she could show off the house to them!
We cleared out on Sunday and moved away yesterday. As our new house isn't built yet we've moved in with DH's parents for a few months and put all our stuff into storage. A lot of our furniture was years old, things DH bought when he was a new homeowner, so we've parted with a lot. We spoke to the new owner and she asked to keep anything we didn't need as she has no furniture as she's moving out of her parents place for the first time. She was ecstatic when we said there's be sofas and things we'd leave if she wanted them, don't think she could believe her luck!
Really upsetting for me walking out of the house and locking the door behind us, knowing we couldn't ever go back in.
My pregnancy hormones are all over the place at the moment so I was a gibbering wreck most of yesterday as we packed up the final things and drove away. One thing I made sure to do was take a specific photo. There's a pic of DH standing in the doorway from the day he got the keys so I tried to take the exact same photo, 7 and a half years later on!
Not ideal circumstances being with the inlaws for 3 months but today we went to the site and saw our new place under construction again. On Saturday we'll be picking out our new tiles, carpets and kitchen which I'm very excited about - the thought of picking all that always attracted me to new builds! We should exchange contracts on the new house any day now and from there it's just a waiting game. Very nice to be mortgage/rent free for 3 months though (just covering the extra bills for his parents), woohoo!
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to shout from the rooftops!

PS, 16 week midwife appointment today and all progressing nicely.
