We accepted an offer back in Jan but with solicitors and other people progressing it all so slowly it felt as if the sale would never be finalised. Well yesterday they finally exchanged contracts and tomorrow the sale should complete and the estate agents will release the keys to the new owner. She's a single lady in her twenties, first time buyer and so excited about finally being a homeowner. I ended up meeting her entire family I think as every time she came by for any reason she had sisters, brother or parents along so she could show off the house to them!

We cleared out on Sunday and moved away yesterday. As our new house isn't built yet we've moved in with DH's parents for a few months and put all our stuff into storage. A lot of our furniture was years old, things DH bought when he was a new homeowner, so we've parted with a lot. We spoke to the new owner and she asked to keep anything we didn't need as she has no furniture as she's moving out of her parents place for the first time. She was ecstatic when we said there's be sofas and things we'd leave if she wanted them, don't think she could believe her luck!

Really upsetting for me walking out of the house and locking the door behind us, knowing we couldn't ever go back in. :sad1: My pregnancy hormones are all over the place at the moment so I was a gibbering wreck most of yesterday as we packed up the final things and drove away. One thing I made sure to do was take a specific photo. There's a pic of DH standing in the doorway from the day he got the keys so I tried to take the exact same photo, 7 and a half years later on!

Not ideal circumstances being with the inlaws for 3 months but today we went to the site and saw our new place under construction again. On Saturday we'll be picking out our new tiles, carpets and kitchen which I'm very excited about - the thought of picking all that always attracted me to new builds! We should exchange contracts on the new house any day now and from there it's just a waiting game. Very nice to be mortgage/rent free for 3 months though (just covering the extra bills for his parents), woohoo!

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to shout from the rooftops!:banana::banana:

PS, 16 week midwife appointment today and all progressing nicely.

Thats great news! We lived with my parents for two months while were in the middle of buying our house - it wasnt too bad lots of nice home cooked food!:goodvibes

Great news! We bought our house as a new build and when we firsy "viewed" it it wasn't even up to knee height! It was lovely to pick out all the finishes for inside though - you will enjoy that!

Have you got any pictures of the new place?
Great to hear that your little one is coming on nicely too!

Great news, will the new house be ready for summer?

Claire ;)

We have bought a new build house twice before (three times if you count the one in Spain) and it is so much fun going round to see it being built. The one we are in now is just round the corner to our old house and we used to go round once a week to take photos. We bought ours immediately after planning permission so had to wait forever to move in, but definately worth it in the end.

So pleased for you but I can imagine how hard it is to move while you are pregnant.

good luck with the in-laws.

Congratulations, it is really nice to hear that houses are still selling! We ended up taking ours off the market and will be staying so i am really pleased to hear that someone has had better luck!

Hope the new house gets built soon, it will be lovely :cool1:

Congrats. :)
3 months will go by in no time and you will be in your new place before you know it :)
Lovely of you to leave the funiture you no longer wanted for the new home owner :)

Just had a call from our buyer, she's got the keys and was standing in my old kitchen calling to say thanks for labelling the keys and ask where the water meter is! That was probably the wierdest phone call I've ever received!

Nice to hear from you Sophie. Glad things are falling into place for you.
