We finally bought our own contract. We added on to my husbands parents contract a couple of years ago but decided we can finally financially purchase our own contract. We went to Hilton Head over Christmas break and loved it, although we will always be devoted to Mickey and Minnie. Our children 6,4, and 3 loved Hilton Head, they called it their "other Disney".
Just to tell everybody a quick funny story. I (dw) had my first Disney experience on my honeymoon. We first did a 7 day cruise, which I love...the best vacation ever, then my husband wanted to do 3 days in Disney. This was in 1993. We did all 3 parks AND Universal in 3 days. To be honest, I HATED Disney and never wanted to see it again. My dh was a Disney Commando. I finally decided to give it another chance, only because I wanted to visit family who had moved to Florida. I was very pregnant and my dh took it easy on me and then I had the BEST time of my life. We then brought our new baby to Disney (I feel Disney is the best throught children's eyes) and haven't stopped since. We have been to Disney 13 times since. Their is definitely "magic" in Disney. The moral of this story is you don't have to spend every waking moment in the parks to love Disney...some people like to take it SLOW, something the dh learned slowly. Now with 3 children he knows slow is the best way and if we miss a ride or two it is not the end of the world.
Thanks to everyone on this message board...you are all a great help and thanks to Mark Turner at Hilton Head for making this transaction painless
