Jeff found this picture of U.S. Marines praying over a fallen comrade at a first aid point
after he died from wounds suffered in fighting in Fallujah, Iraq .

I do not think we see enough of what is really happening there.

The suffering and real people that this nightmare is happening to.

We are up to 51 soldiers killed since Sunday.
Not to mention 400-600 Iraqis.

That's a very thought provoking picture. thank you

Prayers for all our soldiers, aide workers, coalition forces and those being held hostage.

Tears in my eyes....praying for all involved in this horrible time.

I just had to post real quick. Not to downplay this photo at all becuase my heart goes out to the soldier, his family, his fellow soldiers. I agree that we do not hear enough of what is going on. I But I think we do not hear enough of the good our troops are doing. We only hear when there is a casulity. My dh is in Iraq now, everytime I talk to him he tells me not to watch the news. It doesn't tell the whole story.

My prayers are with all of the fallen soldiers.

While I can't even imagine what it would be like to be over in Iraq right now (THANK YOU to our service men and women, as well as the civilians carrying out tasks), I do realize what is going on over there. I do realize the value of a person's life.

When I look at a picture like this one, I am grateful that they are praying over this poor soldier, that the soldier is not alone.

A local boy, just a month shy of his 19th birthday, died this week in Iraq. I guess it makes it more real to our suburb when a local boy dies.
I hear that the 2 sons of old friends are back over there for (at least) a second tour each. Their oldest is a Ranger, who already has a Purple Heart, and their younger son is a Medic. They remain in my prayers.

I'm of two minds on whether it's good for me to see pics like this one or not (but I still want to say thank you to the original OP for putting it here, it touched my heart).

On the one hand, when Titus was in Iraq I was so upset about the lack of real information on what was going on, especially in Mosul. I wanted, no, I craved information about EVERY SINGLE attack, no matter how small it was, I wanted to know if something had happend around Titus. Big things, little things, it didn't matter, I wanted to know about it and see pics of it. I searched the net relentlessly in the year he was gone searching for more information and pics.

BUT when I got a bunch of information it turned me into a terrible wreck. I was worried constantly, my stress level was always high, I lived in a pressure cooker world because I couldn't let the images and events go. And it affected my perception of what we should do as a country because I could not see the big picture. One casulty was too much for me because that one casulty might be Titus and he was worth more than the whole country of Iraq's freedom in my mind.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes you can get too much information. Or at least I did. But I don't think the information shouldn't be available, just that I should have realized when I was obsessinng over it and stopped short of that.

:( :( There will be a vigil for him tonight. 18 yrs old Gosh all this stuff just makes me ill.

My cousin is married to an Air Force pilot who has flown many missions to Iraq, to bring home bodies and bring supplies etc. Despite what he has seen, he still says that we are right in being there. Since he is there, and I am not, I will take his word that despite the tragedy he's seen, he still thinks it is a necessary war.

Thank you for sharing the photo; I hadn't seen it.

I do feel sometimes like we are ignoring what's going on over there. No mention of the new hostages in the past 2 hours of TV -- had to read about it on the DIS. :(
