EPCOT! HUH??? :confused3 :confused3 This is what my hairdresser said to me. When I told her Epcot was part of WDW, she argued with me and told me that its owned by Universal "because of that big ball--its just like the globe they have at Universal!" :scared1: When I asked her if she'd ever been to Epcot, she said no. I think I'm getting a new hairdresser!!!!

At least she wasn't your brain surgeon :rotfl2: .

You are between a "rock and a hard place" If you try to correct her, there goes the hairdo! Otherwise, you just have to sit and listen every time you need a haircut.
I am glad I never had a hairdresser that dumb, I would definitely change. Mine loves Disney!

I know people like that. I know some people who call MK Disney and they think that MGM, EPCOT and AK and separate parks owned by separate companies, even though they’ve been to Disney at least once a year for the past 20 years! I wouldn’t call these people "dumb" they are just not well informed or they probably just don’t care.

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... the next time you should go to the "universal globe" and take a picture of it... I feel for her... :) :rotfl2: :lmao:

I had a DUMB hairdresser too!! She was planning a trip to WDW and I asked her if she was renting a car? And she said "No, were are taking Mears form the airport and when we are at Disney we will just walk to all the parks."

She was staying at ASMovies and seriously thought you could walk to all the parks and not have to drive anywhere. She didn't even know that Disney had busses to take you to the parks. When I realized how clueless she was, I just sat back and let her tell me all her plans. I didn't once correct her on anything and she had PLENTY of wrong info. I swear she didn't research anything!! That just boggles my mind that people would go to Disney without any knowledge of what's there.

I talked to her after her trip and she told me they wouldn't be going back to Disney anymore because they hated it. It was too crowded and they didn't like Epcot because there is nothing there but shops. Magic Kingdom only had 2 rides for little kids, Dumbo and the Carousel. Animal Kingdom was just a zoo,
and MGM was nothing but movie stuff and they don't like movies. Plus, they never saw Mickey Mouse at all, they said they couldn't find him anywhere!

YEAH!!! One more clueless person who's not taking up valuable park space!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Who are these people?!!

My boss and his whole extended family are going to WDW in Sept.
I asked him where he was staying, he said he had no idea. His sister in law made all the reservations.
I told her about the free dining, she did not even bother to change it, so no free dining for them.
When I asked if they were going to see a certain show, my boss was like, where is that? Is at MK? No, hello, are you going to all the parks? No, I doubt it, the other parks are not fun for the kids!

WHAT? We have to hit every park. There is something in each one of the parks that we have to go see.

Ah, we must try to forgive those who just don't know. :sad2:
I get this alot:
"We're going to Disney World."
"Oh, do you like the Hulk/Spiderman ride? How is Universal."
"Um, no, you don't understand...we're going to Disney World. "
<look of confusion from other party>

:lmao:

OT, but my hairdresser is "psychic." And colby cheese enhances her power to "see." In case you were wondering, my aura is aquamarine. :rolleyes2 I'd drop her if she didn't do such a bang up job on my color! :rotfl2:

When dh and I made our first trip to WDW in 1996 we knew nothing. We went to a travel agent, looked at a brochure, picked out a hotel (in DTD), and went when we got our tickets. I knew nothing about guidebooks, what was there, dining reservations or anything. We only ate at one TS restaurant - Biergarten. That was all we could get when we tried at dinner time and we had a long wait. Really put us off EPCOT TS restaurants. At the time, I didn't have daily access to the internet so I guess we just had no idea how much info was out there.

Second and third trip, we did a bit more planning but stayed offsite and had young dd with us so she pretty much dictated our schedule. When she was ready to leave, it was time to leave or we would be very sorry. We didn't dare go to a TS restaurant (on or off site) at dinner time with her.

Last trip we discovered these boards and bought a guide book. Our last trip was great. So much of an improvement over earlier trips. We stayed at AKL, ate at Boma, did some character dinners etc.

This year, we have planned things to do death. We are staying at WL, are planning to to TGM style touring, have ADRs every night, etc. Our kids are a bit older (5 and 7) now so we are even planning a couple evenings in the park which we never did before.

But, I remember when I knew nothing and try to be sympathetic of those who don't. I try to help them and usually suggest they buy the Unofficial guidebook to get started. I know that some people are resistant though. All you can do is be kind.

You mean she didn't say anything about how tired they were from walking to all the parks? :rotfl2:

Look guys, these people are not real!! I repeat they are POD people and will try to suck out your disney magic. Be wery, wery careful. :lmao:

You think that's bad - at least you had the OPTION of conversing with her about it, maybe even correcting her.

My dental hygienist is one of THOSE people too!! Except that she's been there a bunch of times, and everytime I get my teeth cleaned, I have to listen to it. LISTEN TO IT. She asks me questions, knowing I can't answer them with more than a grunt. She makes comments about her feelings about her vacation, knowing my only response can be a roll of the eyes (for all the stupid people she encountered), raised eyebrows (for the GREAT deals she got) or a blank stare (for when she's revealing some BREAKING news about Disney).

She has no idea who she's dealing with. My sisters think it's funny because they know I'm one of THESE :furious: fans when amateurs try to talk Disney with me and won't allow me to actually share my expertise.

Last time I went, she started telling me about the "new mountain ride" they're gonna open at the "animal park". She bragged that her husband found a website all about it (disney.com). THEN, when she discovered she'd be in the parks two weeks before my next trip, she LITERALLY said, with her hands in my mouth, "HA HA! I'll get to ride it before YOU do!!"

I should've bit her.

(We did get her back though, cause my sister went to get her teeth cleaned yesterday and told a little fib about how I was going down for the weekend, just to ride Everest. HA! GOTCHA!!)

Sounds like someone that's been to DLR and has no clue as to what WDW is really like. I'm a DLR veteren and even though I did my research, I still was surprised at the overwhelming size and complexity of WDW.

]Who are these people?!!
They are the reason our touring plans work. Gotta love em for that.

That just boggles my mind that people would go to Disney without any knowledge of what's there.
If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. And it's usually these that always give you the . Oh you're going THERE again? routine.

I told her about the free dining, she did not even bother to change it, so no free dining for them.
Boggles the mind doesn't it? By the way, still time to change it.

Ah, we must try to forgive those who just don't know.

There's nothing to forgive. We need to hug em!!! They're the ones that follow the herd and make our touring plans work. If they ever got wise, our touring plans would be in trouble.

!

Just so she doesn't color your hair to match your aura. Why is it always the hairdressers that have psychic abilities?

Believe it or not, my neighbors have been there recently and didn't even know what a fastpass is.

I can't believe someone actually didn't see Mickey! My Gosh were those people from Universal and have no clue who he is! Everytime I go I am tripping over the little rodent and his two distant cousins Chip and Dale.(I love them, honestly I do).

My mother told her doctor to call and make his reservations for September because of the 180 rule and he told her that no restaurants took reservations! He still believes that all he can get is counter service.

Some people just don't have a clue. Its a shame because they are spending alot of money to get just half the fun.

I can't even imagine not planning  . Back when I was young and stupid, my DH and I went to MK and Epcot (all they had back then) and had a ball without planning, but that was a long time ago, before the crazy crowds, and I realize I missed alot as well.
Since then, I tend to be an overplanner, and a bit obsessive about our upcoming trip, whether it be Disney or just up the road to Philly. I look at maps, pull up info, read all about it...and have fun doing it :goodvibes ! And when we get there, we are prepared and know where to go and what to do. It's so much better than just stumbling your way around, and you get to do all the stuff you wanted to do!
My hairdresser doesn't know much about Disney, but will let me chatter away about our trip, and plans for our next one!

:rotfl2: These stories are hilarious! My family thought I was crazy with all the planning I was doing for our 16 person trip over Spring Break - but I knew if we did not plan for that week we would be out of luck! Sure enough they were thanking me at the end of the trip for all the planning!

My aunt was telling some people we met on the bus about the Princess Storybook Dinner and the 'Ohana Bestfriend's breakfast we did and they said they tried to get into the Dinner and had no luck! They were not aware of ADRs :rolleyes2 . Yikes!
