I'm afraid we won't make it in time

Fourteen more days before BLT will be out of reach for us! Just when I thought we could breath a sigh of relief too.

We've been trying to purchase a BWV contract resale, and after many tries we final found one, signed everything and passed ROFR.

Last week we received the closing docs. We signed, scanned and emailed that hour. Then I raced to the bank for a cashier's check and mailed it USPO Priority Mail 2day for $4.95 (what a bargain compared to $65 overnight). They received it the next day.

Yesterday I called with the banked, the check cleared last week. So I emailed the closing agent and she replied they were still waiting on the seller's paperwork!!! So I emailed the agent, he's out of town, but someone in his office replied they called the sellers and were assured the docs would be in Orlando by the end of the week.

Closing is supposed to happen sometime near the first of the week. Will we make it in time??!!??!!

Will we make it in time for what?

I assume what you're trying to do is close on your BWV resale so that you can then purchase an add-on at BLT as a member before the increase in price/minimum number of points.

Do you have a DVC guide? If not, just call and get one. Then tell them what you want and what you're waiting on. I almost guarantee they'll hold you a spot.

I completely agree. It is worth a try for you and a sale for them.

Don't ask, don't get is my motto.

Yes that's what I meant. We can't afford 100 points at BLT, but really really want to own there (bank & borrow our way to a week).

We have a guide. When we were there Labor Day we toured but didn't purchase. $16,000+ is too much of a commitment for us. We prefer to ease in slowly hence resale and add-ons.

So you think the minute the closing company informs me we've officially closed that I should call our guide or should I do it now or wait until Jan 12th? Can they really hold a sale under 100 pts for after Jan14th?

Do it NOW. That way you are more likely to have him hold the price for you. If you wait until January 12, you have no knowledge of his schedule. He might be on vacation or out of the office for a couple of days, and you would be SOL.

His voice mail says he's out until New Year's Day.

Here was our time line from receiving closing documents to being in Disney's system. Sometimes, your Member ID is set up and in the system before your points are there.

* Received closing docs on 2/20. Returned everything to GMAC on 2/21.
* Deed was recorded through Orange County on 3/7.
* We were in the system 3/14.

If things go as expected, you'll easily meet the 2nd week of January. As PPs have said, I would definitely call my guide, and even see if you can get the paperwork going. The other thing you can do is check this sight (http://www.occompt.com/disclaimer.html), and see if your deed has been recorded. Once it shows up there, I would call your guide and tell him you should be in the system any day.

Best of luck! Sending lots of pixie dust your way!!! pixiedust:

I have also purchased a resale this Nov/Dec and was feel a bit frustrated that I rushed (and paid) to overnight my checks/forms immediately, then the seller took almost 4 weeks to return their documents (came in more than a week after I was told "they had been sent") - and then were there one day after the deadline to have MF paid separately :sad2: . Then I had to go to bank, send another cashier's check Fedex with the additional money for MF because I could not get an answer from closing agent for a week on paying the additional amount by credit card. Sorry to rant on your thread, but I am still waiting to be in the system 12 days after they have had the second check. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I agree you should go ahead and contact DVC to get that purchase lined up now as I would bet it won't make it.

Once it's done, hope to join you with a BLT add-on!!!! :yay:

So, it's New Year's Day....call him now. The sooner you get on his list of add-on hopefuls, the more likely you are to get to do the smaller add-on.

Hi there,

I am an existing BWV and Beachclub DVC owner. The last email that I received promoting BLT was on December 30.

It appears as though the price being offered was $104/point => going to $112 on January 15. I say that "it appears", since I was not certain if this was the price for BLT or Animal Kingdom (which was also promoted on the same email).

Can someone please confirm if this is the correct price and if there are any other incentives to current DVC owners.

Much appreciated!

Thx. Culli, for the quick update ... very helpful!

In addition, I just had a quick call with Disney sales (surprised they were open today?) => developer points can only be used at SSR.

Thx. again.

So you have to get in line for an under 100 pt add-on to BLT also?

I thought that was just for the sold-out resorts.

We've had such a rough time with this whole process, I'm actually a little paranoid now. If he gets involved before the Closing company has sent Disney the proof-of-purchase (or whatever it's called) things wouldn't get slowed down any would they? I mean, once Disney has chosen not to ROFR it's really just a matter of paperwork, right?

I think many of us have the fairly typical story of rushing to send our check and paperwork and then waiting FOREVER for the sellers to do their part to complete the sale. Drove me crazy. We did that for our first BWV purchase and then purchased VWL and AKV from Disney after that. They were much much smoother transactions than dealing with sellers through a broker.

you would think they would be in a hurry to get their money. Maybe they're trying to push it to '09 - do you owe capital gains tax on timeshare sales?

Once Disney has passed on buying you still have to wait on the close which should be quickly thereafter once the seller sends their documents back. For us it was only a few days. Then it's a matter of getting into the Disney system. For us we closed on 12/23 and we are still waiting to get into the system. My guess is this is due to the holidays since it should usually take 7 days according to my broker. I am hoping to get in the system tomorrow.........I need to try and book something for January to use points that expire and I also need to book a 2br at BWV for August

we, too waited for our seller on our SSR resale, and I asked Jamie at the TSS why didn't they want their money? She told me they had to get their stuff notarized, and not everyone is as organized as I am! (She said it with a smile...). We were trying to close before we went down there, so we could see if we wanted to add on at BLT after we saw it in person - wasn't impressed with the photos.
Once done, we were in the system within a week. However, you now have TWO WEEKS to get your guide to help you. Don't panic...you will be fine. And I would bet once you show them the paperwork, you will get the price. Get them started on it now for you, as everyone else has said.
We just added on 25 BLT points so we could stay once every three years for a longish weekend. And we are very happy with our decisions!
Good luck to you! All will be well! Jsut get your guide involved!

You would think that.. I had to back out of a contract the sellers took so long. The timeshare company had my $$ for over a month and no paperwork from the sellers. They finally got the paperwork the day I backed out. UGH! I regret backing out because it was a great contract, but I was so mad! :headache:
