I just called and spoke to a Atlantis reservation person and she said that unless we are a guest of the hotel we are not allowed to use their pools or slides or beaches or even the bars by the pools? Is this true?? If so, what's the point in going there????

Yes, this is true. All guest are given wristbands which allows you to get your towels and use the pools and waterslides. They are very stricit about this. Also not allowed into the dig area unless you pay.

My $0.02

Save yourself some money and do a better waterpark - Wild-Waters, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon when in Orlando...

Neither my fiance nor I are water park people at all. But we saw the water slide that goes into the shark pool and we thought that it was so unique that we wanted to try it out. But I guess not.

The Dig...is the aquarium at Atlantis. You can go through it even if your not a hotel guest...but there is a addmission fee...For us it was just a little more to book a day room and become a hotel guest than it would have been to just pay to go through the dig. ...it's about $25pp entrance fee (for the dig)...so for $50 more we were able to do it all...and use all the hotel pools, slides, bars, beaches, toys, and what nots. It was a blast...and when you figure in how much the disney excurisions cost...we really didn't pay any more than we would have to go on some of the disney planed excrusions.

It cost between $150 - $200 per room. Depending on what time of year it is.
It think she meant it cost fifty dollars more because she had 4 people in her group. Day rooms can't be booked ahead of time. You must check to see if any are available the day you arrive.

My friend and I did this before, and I tell you by the time we got done walking around, and cork screwed in there, we never ever did find the shark slide entrance, and so there fore we didn't even get to do the one thing we really wanted to do. Also, the snorkeling in their snorkeling lagoon was just awful. We only saw four or five fish, and the rest was just a sandy murky bottom. Save your moola.

I was also figuring that you probably slide so fast down that slide that youwont even relaly be able to see any sharks as you breeze through.

Sorry about the confussion...Our day room was $150...It would have been $100 for our family of four...to go through the dig...so for only $50 more...we were able to get a day room and do it all..

The shark tank ....you really go SLOW...you sit on tubes...and the current pushes you through. The current...and the tube that is comming up behind you :)

If you book this excursion through Disney, you can use the beach at Atlantis, with chair and towel. You get a coupon for lunch and admission to the Dig, or aquarium. We did this and just wandered around seeing everything at the resort. We loved it! You might want to consider this as an alternative--

Did you guys see My Wife and Kids this week? They were staying at the Atlantis and showed them using the slides. It does look like fun.

Well, you could book a day room at the Comfort Suites next door to Atlantis...They have a reciprocal agreement that allows CS visitors to get an Atlantis wristband...

I read the same thing on the boards before.

Honestly, the slides and stuff are ok but they sound better in description than they really are. A trip to one of Disney's water parks would have more to do and a lot less cost.

I will agree that it was pricey, however we had a great time!

We booked a room at the Comfort Suites and spent the day at the Atlantis. The kids (5 and 7) loved the kiddie pools and the lagoon beaches. Food was higher priced than average, but was still good.

We walked through the Dig and loved the aquariums. Tons of fish, even a worker in SCUBA gear doing some maintenance :rotfl2:

All in all it cost us around $250. That includes a room at the CS, lunch at Atlantis and taxes/tips. Taxi was $16 each way from the port.

Just my $0.02 worth . . .
