So glad you're getting her back Frances. We've got 2 dogs - OES's (and a rabbit who thinks he's a dog), and we'd be out of minds if they ever got lost. They are members of the family!

Phew, Frances, just catching up with this thread and so pleased to see she's returned

Roxy, our 9 month old black lab, "disappeared" from the driveway when I was cleaning the car a couple months back . . . Katie and I were frantically running up and down the lane shouting for her, jumping into the field surrounding the house thinking she's gotten over the bank. She was 5 houses down at our friends' house, waiting for them outside their front door!! Luckily we live in the top end of a no-through road so I wasn't overly worried about cars.

You don't know whether to really tick them off or just hug them when you get them back because they're safe

What do you think happened to her - did she just go for a little wander on her own?

Oh I totally agree! She had such an innocent looking face when we got her back I couldn't shout at her despite feeling that way for making us so worried! She is only just over a year old and very small for her age too, she gets away with things easy by coming over all cute!

What do you think happened to her - did she just go for a little wander on her own?

No idea - DH has been going around the boundary of our garden today looking for a gap in the hedges/fences or anywhere she could have got out. I don't want to let her out again (without constantly watching over her) until we know where she escaped from! Luckily we too are in a quiet lane and I wasn't too worried about traffic, but still, glad she was okay

I only just saw this, this morning and my heart was in my mouth!

Im so pleased you have gotten her back safe and sound.

A few years ago now Sally our oldest dog was out in a local forest near to our house with my dh. They were gone for ages. Dh came back in a blind panic saying that Sally had been attacked by another dog in the undergrowth, he had heard her yell and that he couldn't find her. He went back to search as was gone for a couple of hours> I was beside myself. Then I was sitting crying in the front room when I heard a scratching at the front door. Bless her she had made her own way home. She was shaking but there was no physical injuries. She had to cross a number of roads to get home. But I was so pleased to have her back. I phoned my dh who was so relieved
That was when Sally was 6 and she is now 13

Yes, we have. It was the identichip hotline we called - they dealt with the local police and informed us she had been found.
