We braved the 4th!!! AND the rain...and the crowds??? 7/1-7/8 BOOKED NEXT TRIP!!!!

Nothing like a great TR update to cure my case of the Mondays!! Those are some awesome towel animals and I love how they used your 4th of july items to decorate them up!

Great recap!

That is a good tip, to place the camera on something steady like a garbage can of someone else's shoulder to take night pictures when you don't have a tri-pod!

I'm sad you already are at your last day!

Is the ToT glowing more than normal??? It looks the same to me! I heard they have a special effect in there that takes your picture, but it gets really "meh" reviews. Good idea to head to MK for some shopping, Splash and parade!!

Georgina is the BEST! You got the swans PLUS a person (never seen that one before!) all decked out. She obviously likes her job and that is very cool.

I also love one man's dream but I agree with you about it's fate. For our trip we made a special trip just the two of since BF knows how much I love it and didn't want his family to ruin my experiance! I ended up taking a picture of every single poster on the walls (I collect them and wanted to have some sort of refrence point). We were in there for a long time.

I love the film as well. I've read pretty much every biography on Disney and the thing i Find most interesting is reading the disney sanctioned versions vs the non disney sanctioned versions. It's some interesting stuff that we should probably take with a grain of salt!

Great update!

I just got caught up on your last few updates and LOVE them!!!

I'm so glad you included the Biergarten videos! My family is all German on my dad's side. We actually play German Beer Drinking CD's at family picnics, so I know all the songs they were playing. (My aunt always sings along, since she knows all the words to ALL the songs... "Eins, zwei, zuffa!") So fun!

And so glad you finally got some nice weather!!!

My DH is also a HUGE HUGE HUGE Star Wars fan. I'm not as into it. (I'm more of a Lord of the Rings and Star Trek nerd, myself.) On our trip last month, we also got lots of pics at Star Tours so that DH could have them to remember before they change it up.

For the poster asking about the Star Wars films...... I just asked DH and he said that that was a tough one! But if you start with the old ones, watch them first, then watch the newer ones to get the back story, then watch the old ones again to really get an idea of how they all fit together. Seriously, DH knows the movies SO WELL (especially the old ones) that he can literally recite all the lines through the entire movies as they're playing. Yeah - hardcore!

Ugh! Seriously -- stay out of my personal space!!!!! I hate rude people!

One year we actually had an ENTIRE family run and PUSH past us to get on Space Mountain and stand one spot ahead of us -- Like are you serious??? It was the one time I seriously considered punching someone at the Happiest Place on Earth! :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

I love that towel animal 'guy' in the bed - awesome!!!

So cute, right?!

Georgina is the best!!! I completely agree with you on One Man's Dream - I cry every time because I just think about what an amazing man it took to make all of his dreams possible and... OUR dreams too!!! :lovestruc

As for being alone at Disney... you'll never guess but I went BY MYSELF four years ago! Prior to that, I hadn't been to Disney since I was in early high school (so I was determined I HAD to go) and none of my family or friends were able to go with me, so I just went by myself! And, I must admit, I had an amazing time. It was strange at first, but once I got used to it, it was great! No compromises over what to do, where to eat, etc. and I could go at my own pace (which means FAST!!!). I highly doubt I'd ever do it again, but at the time... it worked!

Ugh, you're down to your last day already... :sad2: Why is it vacations go by so fast?!

Wow, you are brave! I don't know if I could ever do that but if I had to, I'm sure I would!

I know, last day already! How did it go so fast!?

Nothing like a great TR update to cure my case of the Mondays!! Those are some awesome towel animals and I love how they used your 4th of july items to decorate them up!

If I remember correctly, I think we went to the food court then went back to the room to get something and Georgina was already in there cleaning. She felt really bad she was there (I didn't care, of course!) but that may have had something to do with the extreme towel animals and turn down service!

Great recap!

Oh yes! Garbage cans works great!

Hahah!! I know! TOT looks almost exactly the same! Sooooo wasn't worth a special night trip to DHS AT ALL! They do have the picture effect. It's cool but nothing didn't blow me away or anything.

Yeah that was Tom in One Man's Dream. Pics of EVERYTHING! I just like to look at it. The movie is just too good!

Glad you're all caught up! Funny about the German CD at parties! I really love hearing the music in there. And the waitresses dancing was just too cute!

Yeah, DH is the same way with the movies. Can recite the old ones word for word!

So rude! I don't get it! You are in freaking Disney World! Respect the Mouse!

Just read your last two updates, and your World Showcase afternoon looked perfect! I'm wishing for one of those afternoons right now! Sorry about the rude people in the Splash line - I feel like we ALWAYS have people pushing us/ right up in our space in that line! Ick. Great that it worked out that you got to see the MSEP! :thumbsup2

It really was a perfect day in World Showcase and believe it or not, the last day is just as good, if not better! There's nothing better than just walking around, relaxing, having a drink and not worrying about running to any rides. :thumbsup2

So I stayed over my sister's last night (last summer sleepover before school starts) and she had DVRed Hello Dolly. OMG, what an AWESOME musical! It was so much fun! Of course, we knew the song from the opening scene of Wall-E but there were a good 3 or 4 songs that are played on Main Street, USA! Even my 2 year-old niece Emma liked it. She was singing and dancing, although she preferred that we sing, "Hello, Emma!" (So cute!) So since we both love musicals but don't watch nearly enough, we decided we are going to do a musical of the month! Chicago is one of my favorite movies and she's never seen it so I think that one's going to be next. I'm going to try to convince her to watch Sweeney Todd at some point, but that will be hard because she has something against Helena Bonham Carter...

So any suggestions? What are YOUR favorite movie musicals?

Now here's something I can talk about!!! For my absolute fave musical of ALL TIME, the winner is.......The Music Man!!!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!! And the old movie - with Shirley Jones and Robert Preston. Even though I'm a Kristin Chenowith fan, nothing can beat the original movie. I used to watch that over and over as a kid!

But, oh no! How can anyone have anything against Helena?! I've been a huge fan since "Room With a View." (If you haven't seen it, you MUST! It's not a musical, but an awesome period romance movie made in the 80's. It also stars Daniel Day Lewis, Maggie Smith, and a whole bunch of other great actors whose names I can't remember right now. SO GOOD!) I got to meet her in this past fall, as my husband's friend works for Tim Burton, so we got to go to Tim's art premiere at MoMA in NYC, along with the party afterwards. She is so great!:worship:

Oh awesome!!!!! We are huge Tim Burton fans. We wanted to go to the Burton exhibit but just never got around to it. How cool you got to meet them!

Thanks for the suggestion! It'll definitely go on my list!!

I think my favorite movie musical is Annie. I know it's not an old "classic" but I grew up with it and I just LOVE the songs and all the actors. But then again, Poppins is really up there too......and Sound of Music...UGH! So many good ones!

I have spent the last 2 hours watching youtube videos of disney clips set to funny songs! It started from me looking up "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" from Hello, Dolly since I just watched it and it led me to a video someone made of Up with that song.....then you can just keep going and going!! LOVE youtube!

Here are a few favs so far!

SOooo funny!

Yes! Poppins is up there just behind Music Man for me. It was the other movie I used to watch incessantly as a kid. Haha!

Tim's exhibit was great! We also got to meet a lot of other famous people too. It was so cool! Brian's friend is Tim's personal assistant and assistant producer for many of the films, so he invited his core college buddies (and wives) to the event. I even got a blurry out of focus picture with Helena that was my facebook profile pic for months! (blurriness due to everyone being seriously drunk by that point in the night) :lmao:
