My husband and I spent a few days discussing the details and decided we could/would book a trip. Our family of 5 - me, DH, DS9, DD7 and DS3 - will be staying at POR from August 20-26. We only wanted 4 day tickets so we force ourselves to spend a little more time relaxing. We'll visit each park one day. We have Free Dining and have never had the dining plan so we look forward to trying out several new restaurants. Can't wait!

Congratulations!

I understand you wanting to relax. My family has such a hard time keeping up with me, they are exhausted by the time the vacation is over. I got us 10 day no exp.base tickets but only plan on using 4 days out of them too. Of course we are also planning on MNSSHP, but no parks on that day and no parks the following day.

My DD'S have a hard time in the heat so I will probably take it easy and take breaks at the hotel pool.

Congratulations on booking! We'll just miss each other since we check in on the 15th but depart on the 19th.

One suggestion, if I may...
Upgrade those tickets to 7-day passes. The cost difference is only about $10/pass and it would give you more flexibility to come & go as you please.

Park getting too hot or too crowded for your taste? Hey, it only cost you $3 plus change to visit that day. Go back to the resort and don't feel guilty about "wasting" a park day on your tickets.

Want to use your dining credits in a World Showcase restaurant or maybe have dinner with Pooh at the CP? You'll need a ticket to get into the park. With a 7-day pass, you'll have the flexibility to do that. And none of the guilt about wasting a park day.

I know that it's going to cost you $50 more to do that. And it may not be worth $50 to you to be able to do it. I'm just thinking out loud, I guess.

I definitely agree with aka-mad4themouse. You may want to upgrade so that you can enter the parks to use the restaurants at world showcase. You can do this at a very slow pace and their are so many restaurants to enjoy. Especially since the dining is FREE!!!

Congrats!!! I just booked our Sept. trip yesterday!!!! We had the dining plan in Jan/Feb. and LOVED it!!! Now we get it for free.......... yeah!!!!

I do agree with the others, I'd upgrade those tickets......... for many reasons it's worth the money -- and it really isn't a lot of money, considering that around $50 is LESS than a one day ticket!!!

Good Luck.......... Have Fun and enjoy trying out new restaurants!!!!

PS......... If you haven't eaten at Chef Mickey's -- DO!!!! Your kids will LOVE it!!

I know the price difference to upgrade is not a lot. We looked at the prices but just decided to go with the 4 day tickets. This ensures we have the afternoon we arrive, one day during the week and the morning we leave free. It forces us to spend a little more time relaxing. My daughter and I were there last May, my husband and older son last June, all of us in October and my husband and older son are doing a SWW this June so we really want this trip to be more relaxing that others were. Thanks for the opinions though!

I understand your point completely, Bowen9475. I'm looking forward to a more leisurely trip this time around as well. I'd really like to spend the time enjoying that resort that I'm spending all those bucks on! Somehow, relaxing poolside in August sounds so much more appealing than sweltering in a long line. Enjoy your trip!

I understand the suggestions to up the # of days on your tickets as well(I did it during our stay last month) but now that I've experienced POR, I would totally agree to your plan. :thumbsup2

There is soo much to do at POR that does not require park admission...besides your pick of large pools at Riverside or FQ(and the POR quiet pools), you've got the carriage rides, surrey or bike rental and the wonderful boat ride to Downtown Disney. Since we only had time to do the 2 main pools and the boat ride when we went(felt too much pressure to use those 7 day hoppers!!) I'm already planning at least 2 "non-park" days for our stay next year.

Enjoy your stay!!!
