We ate here, there, & way over there, deluxe style...6/20 to 6/27 **Final ANALYSIS**

Ah Boma, the breakfast of champions! I love that place and would be happy to eat there every morning!

Ooooh, looks lovely! Very glad it's on my agenda! ::yes::

Thanks for another great update!!

I'm totally subbing in!! I will be doing Deluxe again in Sept when I return to WDW but I'm trying new restaurants and one of them is WCC...so thank you for the great review. I have a question for you about the skillet...is that meant to be shared or do you each order your own??? Thanks!

DH and I both ordered the skillet, so what was served in our skillet was meant to be shared. I can't speak with authority but I would imagine that if one adult ordered the skillet and another adult ordered a different entree, both adults could likely eat off the skillet. It would NOT work to order ONE skillet for two adults to share, just as you wouldn't order one buffet dinner to share. :goodvibes

Woo hoo!!! LOVED your pre-trippie and I'm so excited about your dining reviews! WCC looks good, but I think it would put me on meat overload! I have a feeling I would also order off the regular menu as you said you would do another time. Your cake was so pretty! I was disappointed in my daughters birthday cake, but live and learn.
Yumm, Boma breakfast looks fantastic! We are going there for breakfast twice in Sept. and I am looking forward to it even more now!!
Looking forward to more great reviews!!:thumbsup2

Sunnie!! Did you do a TR? I lost track of your plans when my parents arrived for all that home improvement. I'm so sorry your bday cake was a disappointment. If I were staying at AKL or AKV, I would easily eat there at LEAST twice.:lmao:

Wow, you don't mess around. Already two updates! They look great too.
We did WCC on our 2008 trip. But the salad was included with our skillet then. Is it not anymore?
I don;t care for WDW cowboy beans at all. Hopp Dee Doo serves them too, and I have tried them 3 times now, hoping I will like them, but I find them just nasty each time. I love WCC cornbread too. The meat was good, but like you said just average. I don't however like any of the BBQ sauce that is carried in WDW. I'm an Open Pit kind of girl. LOL!

I've never been to Boma, so may have to try it in the future. Maybe when Claire gets older. She still loves the character meals so much.

Are you doing a TR too?

Great reviews! It looks like Boma has added new things to their breakfast since I was there last.. Might be reason enough to go and check it out! :goodvibes

Thanks for joining me over here! The salad was included according to the menu, however, on our BILL, they ALSO itemized the salad. Frankly, I think it was a ploy to increase our bill (and thus the tip), and it was somewhat legally done because we were on the deluxe plan. I didn't even eat the beans, trying to save room for the cake! The BBQ sauce definitely wasn't my fav. I prefer more of a tomato based, spicy sauce. Ah well.

Definitely try Boma, if it would be convenient to get there. Especially with Claire. Travel to and from a TS can wreck the whole thing, even if the food is good. If you ever need a break from the characters though, :thumbsup2 to Boma.

I am going to do a TR, but I don't think I can do both at the same time! :lmao

Thank you so much for answering my question...I think I'm going to order the skillet but as you mentioned I'm going to ask about substituting a different appetizer instead of the salad!!!! Thanks for the heads up about that!

Great review! Thanks for going super indepth at Boma, I'm eating there for the 1st time on my next vacation and it was great to see all the food. What a line for the carving station though:scared1: I'm small so hopefully I'll be able to scoot around it.

You're welcome!

Thanks! No problem. I think the deal was that a bunch of people were seated at roughly the same time and rather than everyone going to different stations to start, everyone just started there. I noticed that the line fluctuated significant throughout the morning. There was no one in line when I went for seconds on the curry dish.:goodvibes

We will be trying WC for dinner on our next trip. It was great to get a detailed review. Now I can't wait! Boma was a place I was avoiding due to my unadventureous brood. But dinner is what I had in mind. Now I know to go and take them to breakfast! Great writing! Can't wait for more.

I'm a little tardy...but I'm here. Great reviews so far...can't wait for the rest.

I am enjoying your restaurant review! Thanks for posting!

We are headed to WDW in October but staying at a house we rented offsite. I am not sure we will do any resort meals other than character meals.

HOWEVER, our next trip, I think I want to do onsite again. Especially since my kids will be older!

We were in Downtown Disney. DH started asking what the plan for lunch was...

There was no ADR for lunch. There was an ADR at 5:30 pm at the California Grill. We had a buffet breakfast. And it was about 1:00.

I was prepared for this. Infact, I hoped for it.

I asked, "What are you in the mood for? Remember we have a big dinner coming tonight."

DH answered, "I'm feeling salad-y."

:woohoo:

I was hoping for this. We were right in the vacinity of Wolfgang Puck Express on the Marketplace side. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here two years ago. We headed over there. I was interested to see the renovation.

WPE counts as a counter service credit, which didn't apply with the DxDDP. On the DxDDP, it simply counts as one entitlement, just like a one credit TS restaurant. It's one of the nicer QS restaurants though, in that, you order, are given your drink cups to use at the self-serve beverage station, any prepackaged dessert you order, and a number tent to place on your table so a server can bring you your food when it is ready.

I ordered the same thing that I ordered two years ago. The Spinach Salad, which isn't shown on the 6/09 version of the menu here on the Dis, but IS shown on the allears menu of 3/09? :confused3

Now here's a tip about WPE, especially if you are a salad eater. The menu on the board makes the salads appear to be really plain and boring. Literally, the menu on the board said: Spinach Salad. But there was a second menu down low that had the actual descriptions of the food items, and that's where you would read that the spinach salad is fresh organic baby spinach with Granny Smith apples, radicchoi, Gorgonzola cheese, caramelized pecans and Sherry vinaigrette. DH had ordered this salad in it's appetizer form at WPC, back in 2007, when appetizers were still included in the DDP. So he ordered the same thing.

We ordered creme brulee for dessert.

DS ordered the pepperoni pizza from the kid's menu. This included a fountain drink, which DH used for iced tea. DS is a water-only boy. He got a brownie for dessert, which was a prepackaged one with visible chocolate chips.

I got iced tea for my drink. DH got bottled water for his, which we took with us for sipping while shopping.

If you are an iced tea drinker, and you enjoy brewed iced tea, not the Nestea fountain type, then you MUST get the iced tea at the WP restaurants. The BEST one is mango flavored tea. It is an unsweetened mango, so it isn't syrup-y like some bottled flavored teas. This is just wonderfully refreshing brewed tea. There is also regular unsweetened and sweetened, again, brewed iced tea.

The interior of WPE is now HUGE compared to what it was before. With the serious heat index, every seat in the house was taken. This made for a loud environment. We headed to the patio, where only one other family was braving the heat. The patio is a very comfortable environment. Ceiling fans speed overhead. There is total shade. It's quiet because it faces a pathway with little foot traffic. The little birds were not aggressive as some others around WDW. They provided some good laughs and entertainment thorough our meal actually. Here's I am enjoying the peace of the patio:

Despite the crowd, our food arrived quickly. DS was drooling over his pizza:

Which was very tasty, hot and ooey goeey with melted cheese and just enough pepperoni for flavor with making the top of the pizza super greasy.

And the salads looked just as good as I remembered:

The salads were fresh and wonderful all over again. A perfectly light lunch that was still satisfying. I can tell you that they looked so good, one woman was staring at us as she exited through the patio area. I caught her and so she had to comment on how wonderful our salads looked, what did we order? She would have to go back and get one of those, they had just ordered the pizza.

And dessert:

I am not a creme brulee expert. If it tastes good, then it's good, KWIM? This was good. The crispy top didn't have a hint of burn (one of them had a couple burnt spots last year) and the underneath was creamy and firm all at the same time. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

We didn't eat the brownie. Ever. DS was full with pizza and didn't want it right away. The poor thing got smashed in my little bag, looked so unappetizing after it's travels that we tossed it. Ah well.

Because our experience was so similar to two years ago, and because I strive to be thorough and as informative as possible, I will include the pictures from two years ago. I read a lot about how certain restaurants have lost quality over time, and I don't doubt the truth there, but WPE so obviously didn't. I can show two more menu items using last years pics.

Here is the same spinach salad two years ago:

Here's the BBQ chicken salad:

Here's the creme brulee (you can SEE how one has a part that is somewhat burnt):

Kid's linguini with tomato sauce:

.

The bill:

2 Spinach Salad $21.90
1 Kid Pepperoni 6.95 (includes a drink)
2 Creme Brulee 9.90
1 Brownie 2.95
1 Ice Tea 2.65
1 Btl Water 2.75

Total $50.16 (with tax)

Entitlements Used: 3

I highly recommend WPE. You just can't beat this quick service restaurant. It has so much going for it, great food with service, free refills on fountain drinks, excellent brewed iced tea, housemade dessert (creme brulee only), real plates and silverware (not plastic), and a lovely patio with comfy chairs. The variety on the menu would allow for the light lunch DH and I enjoyed, or something heavier and more filling. We ate at all three WP restaurants two years ago, and our experience this year confirms that it's still a good choice, especially for DDP and QSDP. For DxDDP, it is still a good deal. It's nice to have a faster meal than a typical TS restaurant, and it is especially nice to have a meal with no tip at the end. Because my family spends so much time in the DTD area, we will probably eat here year after year.

Thank you so much. Have a blast at WCC! It's quite an entertaining meal. There's just enough at breakfast to get a taste of an African inspiration. Dinner is actually quite similar.

I'm a little tardy...but I'm here. Great reviews so far...can't wait for the rest.

Welcome!! Thank you.

Welcome! Are you doing a PTR or a TR? We have a big family trip planned for spring 2010 with DH's three sisters (and families). I was contemplating the house idea. I'd like to read about someone else's experience.

OOOH...I really should eat before coming on here and reading these even at 9:30 in the morning!!

That salad looks heavenly and that creme brulee...I'm a huge creme brulee fan and that looks sinful!!

Glad you had a great meal and thanks for the great review definitely might have to stop there sometime during my next trip!

I just love WPE...that salad looks yummy! Cannot wait to hear about Cali Grill!
