We are stunned by the compassion that MS has shown us!

This has been a most difficult week, as hubby has been in hospital with a medical emergency. We were set to arrive to WDW today, for our normal 2 week summer trip.

After much testing and many days in hospital, hubby has been diagnosed with Crohn's, and therefore, we had to cancel our entire stay. Hubby is on medical leave from work right now as well. Kids were separated from Daddy for days, and from myself, as I spent most of the time with him.

I spent hours on the phone with amazing DVC people yesterday, cancelling resort stays (we had a 3 resort split stay), ADRs and with Old Key West, as I had a package delivered which was waiting for us upon check-in.

This is what MS has done for us:

- CM who cancelled everything was absolutely exceptional, and even caught a glitch with our VISA credit for cancellation of the dining plan. He want above and beyond!

- CM at Old Key West, spent her lunch hour going to the post office to send us out our package. As I was giving her my credit card, she said it was a gift from Disney for being loyal guests, and for having such a difficult week with my hubby's illness. I was blown away by this, but not surprised as Disney has done stuff like this before.

- MS put our points in holding, as they should have, but then reversed that decision based on our medical emergency. They said that was the last thing we needed to worry about. I am a teacher, and have very limited vacation time, which means peak seasons, and holding periods only allow for booking 60 days before arrival, so this is truly appreciated beyond words! We were stunned by this, and beyond grateful that they did this for us.

Of course, health is most important, but this hit us hard this week, and not being able to go on vacation, was just another difficult blow, especially for the kids. They know that Daddy is sick, so cancelling vacation really hit them hard, as they know Daddy's health must be serious.

We received amazing customer service, compassion and kindness over the past few days, and it has come at a much needed time, as we are all burned out and emotionally spent. DVC has restored a bit of magic for us, during what has been a most stressful week. Incidentally, if anyone is wondering, we did inquire about Travelex Insurance months ago, but hubby has pre-existing conditions, so they said it wouldn't be valid.

I just wanted to share my story, as I feel like a very valued member of this community. The DVC boards are truly full of amazingly kind people, and I wanted to share this story as a way to show other members how exceptional they have been with us from start to finish.

We have lots of medical appointments to tend to, but once we have a clearer picture of hubby's health, we will be able to plan a future trip.

I wish all of you good health and happy travels, Tiger

Sorry to hear about your husbands illness, and hopefully he gets well soon. Great to hear the MS took care of you.

First, I am sorry to hear about your husband's condition. I hope that he can feel better with the proper care.

I think DVC MS is great. I'm glad that they went the extra mile, or two, to ease your burden.

I am so sorry. I also have Crohn's disease. Although, there is no cure..thankfully, it can be treated. Hopefully, your DH will be feeling, much better, really soon.:goodvibes

I am also happy to hear, you reached a great CM, who spread, a large amount of pixie dust.:thumbsup2

I am so sorry that your DH had this medical emergency, and I'm so happy that you received such good care from DVC and Disney.

I remember your post about your dh, again I'm so sorry. I was worried that you'd wind up having to toss the points, since you can only go during school breaks. Great news about the reversal!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. Keeping your family in my prayers.

Thanks so much everyone! The caring and compassion mean so much!

We are beyond grateful for the wonderful care we have received from all DVC cast members.

Once DH is feeling better, we will be able to plan our next trip, which will more than likely be at Christmas, if there are any villas left.

Thanks so much, Tiger

Sorry to hear about your dh health. I am glad MS made it all work out for you.

Glad to hear they were able to help you, healing prayers for your husband.

Glad to hear that your husband is doing ok, Crohn's can be rough. Also glad to hear that MS took care of you guys at a time when you definitely needed the pixie dust.

In a time when there is so much negativity, it's great to hear about how wonderful the Disney CMs were in resolving your cancellation issues. It's nice to hear how helpful and considerate they were.
My daughter (now 40) was diagnosed with Crone's several years ago and spent three weeks in the hospital at that time. With the exception of a couple of very small flare ups, she has been in remission since then. She takes a lot of pills every day, but it keeps her "healthy."
I hope your husband is as fortunate as she has been since diagnosis.
Good luck to you all..WDW will still be there when he is better.

Tiger..I will keep you and your dh in my prayers. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ms experience with us at the is difficult time. I hope you and your family get to share a Disney vacation together soon....best wishes...:)

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this right now, at what must be such a busy and stressful time. We'll be keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry about your husband's illness and hope he recovers soon. MS at OKW are fantastic. On our last trip I came down with a horrible case of food poisioning. My husband had gone to the HH just to get information on the closest clinic and pharmacy. When he told them the issue they gave him directions and said if anything they could do let them know. He thought that would be the last we heard from them. They called our room every few hours to see if I was ok and if we needed anything. Which I thought was above and beyond. We did not expect or ask for anything but when we checked out ALL our meals for the day prior to me getting sick were credited to our account. They said since there was know way to know what meal made me sick they would comp the entire day. That was very special and earned them many stars in my book. For those of us luckey enough to own at OKW we have the best MS around.:cool1:

Tiger - I always enjoy our discussions on the boards, so I'm so sorry to hear about your husband and your cancelled trip. But I am very glad to hear how MS took care of you - that is great.

I hope your DH feels better soon and perhaps he will get his Crohn's a bit settled soon and it will be just be a minor annoyance on your future trip.

Just wanted to say I'm sorry, and to let you know that I know a couple people with Crohn's who have managed to regulate medication and diet very successfully and are doing just fine and do everything they did before as far as activities, travel, etc.:grouphug:
