Went to 2 shows in the past few weeks. We want a smaller one....around 22 feet. We like ones by Gulfstream and the Minnie Winnie so far.

I like my rv. It sure beats taking down a tent in pouring rain, or that for 3 years it leaked onto my sleeping bag.

It's comfy too. We bought a used one. It's 74. The couple that had it was crying as we pulled away. They had to stop using it because of health reasons, or I think they'd be living in it.

DH and I want to buy one when we retire. His dream is a SkyDeck.

My dad has a Fleetwood with a slide out kitchen that he lives in. It is very nice, but it cost as much as my house!

before 9/11 it was always my "dream" to have one, but I was in my mid30s with a family, mortgage, responsibilities, etc. After 9/11, I said "that's it" (and DH agreed), and we bought a '96 Class C 30' Damon Hornet. It didn't cost anymore than a new car (they depreciate fast, be forewarned if you buy a new one), so I'm driving my old beater car, but have the motorhome of my dreams. We spent most of the summer "bumming" in it, including two weeks in Aug. at WDW with my mom, myself, and DS. Even though we basically only get to use it summers (I'm a teacher), it was worth every penny. I have my family, my dog, a.c. frig, bathroom, satellite t.v., heck, it's better then being at home! And we've met just super people everywhere we've camped, honestly. Research first, then come join us!

Thanks...how was it staying at WDW? You stayed on DIsney property?

Ft. Wilderness was wonderful, absolutely the best campground ever. Go to the Camping Boards and visit with everyone, they're full of great advice!

I would love to get an RV but DH is dead set against it. :( Too many years camping in the boy scout tents. Guess we'll always have our lil ol tent. :D

Good luck to you!! Hope you find the RV of your dreams!!!

My brother-in-law's parents had one the size of a bus with a bedroom with a queen size bed, a galley style kitchen and a living area, plus a full bath. It was gorgeous. They spent years driving around the country...literally, they did that for like 15 years. They finally just bought a home in the Orlando area a couple of years ago, because the driving was getting to be too much...you know, they're getting older, eyesight is failing, and that's a lot of RV to haul around, plus towing a car! They did enjoy it for the many years they did it though. Good luck with your shopping!

DH and I started out back in '75 with a tent for a few years, then when the kids were old enough to enjoy camping we upgraded to a pop-up and had that for many years, and had many good family times with it. Then in '92 we bought my in-law's 5th wheel that they were selling (they offered it to us for the same trade-in price they could get when they got their new one), it's an '87 Jayco 32' 5th wheel. It was so nice to have our own bathroom, no more late-night trips to the bathhouse!! And a real bed too, queen size!! It's starting to show its age though, and we're hoping to up-date in 2-3 more years. Definitely plan to stick with a 5th wheel, but with a slide-out for the living/dining area (and a free-standing dinette instead of booth), and a slide-out in the bedroom too. Maybe we can go with a 27' one so it would be a bit shorter for hauling. I love looking at new ones, droolin' and dreamin'..... :D

We talked about getting one for years and finally last year did it. We got a 30' Minnie Winnie and just love it. We have done a little bit around New England, but just came back last week from Fort Wilderness which we loved!! Hoping to do Williamsburg in April.

Ooooo! I'd love to have one myself.. :)

I say GO FOR IT - and "rationalize" the purchase with comments of how much money you'll save by not having to stay in hotel rooms anymore!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
