Let me start by saying we are Disney veterans, but this is the first time renting points. So, I feel like I am just learning.

Last night we talked to the guy we are renting the DVC points from. He is my husband's friend/co-worker.
We are planning to stay at Boardwalk Villas a week and Bay Lake Tower a week.
He said that we pay him 1/2 when he makes the resies and the other 1/2 30 days out.

He said that we can buy our tickets on our own anytime before or at arrival. I guess one way would be to buy tickets only on the website. We plan to buy them in advance so we can access the FP+ (UGH). Can they be tied to our DVC rental reservations so that we can reserve our FP rides?

Also, he said that we just call our resort ourselves at least 48 hours before arrival to add the DDP. Do we pay for it then? Or pay for that upon arrival?
To get DDP for both weeks do we need to purchase a MYW 1 day ticket for the second week? or can we just get the 15 day/nights of DDP bc of renting points.

Unfortunately my hubby is his friend and I have never met him. My husband doesn't ask all these questions, so I am trying to find out so I can plan accordingly.

Thanks in Advance. I hope my questions were worded in a way that makes sense.

FP+ is not yet available to any guests, it's still being tested. You link your tickets to My Disney Experience (MDE) website or mobile app). Tickets are not tied to room reservations for the purpose of FP+.

Once the member has made the room reservations for you and you have the confirmation numbers, you would also link those to MDE.

The owner is the only one that can arrange the DDP. He must call DVC and add that at least 2 days prior to your arrival and it must be paid for in full when it's added to the room reservation.

Thanks. I know FP+ isn't up and going yet-just trying to plan for if it is. The MDE is not something I look forward to.

Thanks for the answers. He did tell my husband that we take care of the DDP ourselves, I had previously heard otherwise. He insisted to my husband that we do it ourselves and that he rents out points every year and that's always how he does it. I'm confused.

We plan on getting 10 day MWY + WPM tickets. Would that and our reservations/rentals cover all 15 nights for us to buy DDP? or is it like other split stays where we would have to buy a MYW for the second resort?

He's incorrect. Renters can't call the resort to add the DDP as the resort is unable to do anything to a DVC reservation. Only DVC can add the DDP and the owner is the only one that can talk to DVC to do that.

For DVC reservations, you don't need tickets in order to add the DDP to a room reservation. You can purchase any length ticket you need.

When are you planning to go? I found out yesterday that I have an important work conference the week I planned to stay at BWV in November. I checked October, November, December and there are no 5 nights together for BWV or BLT. SSR is available, some dates for AKV Kidani.

I have rented points several times lately because my husband is currently working out of the country.
We as the DVC members must add the dining plan to the reservation.
I have handled this by doing a conference call with the renter and member services so they can talk to member services and give their credit card info for the dining plan. This can be done up to 48 hrs prior to check in.

I believe if you are switching resorts you will have to buy the dining plan for each stay.

We are planning to go next summer-May 31 to June 14. If those dates don't work we are flexible for when he can make the reservations

Being there that long I'd purchase a annual pass

We would love to, but it kinda pushes the limit. The price for 10 day MYW PH WPM for 4 of us is $1802.00
The price for PAP for 4 is $3105.56
The price for AP for 4 is $2594.36, and add on the water park AP is $416 + tax = $3010

The water parks are a MUST!

The $1802 is much more do-able :(

Do you have other suggestions?

As far as buying tickets you can get a bit of a break buying through Undercover Tourist. I think you can save a little more by subscribing to MouseSavers.com and going with their link to UT. I would do some price comparisons, it could save a decent amount of money.

Just did a quick check and I think it would cost $1695.80 for 4 10 day MYW PH w/water parks and more.

I would highly recommend this. Undercover Tourist is very reputable.

I cannot wrap my head around the UT prices and upgrading them. I think I need help with the math:

Do I look at the regular MYW, with the WPM, or Non-expire?
So when I look at the UT link, it looks to me like the biggest savings is buying a 5 day MYW WPM for $28 discount each. Would that mean that we buy those, use them once and then upgrade to PAP? So it would be $1367.48 for the 5 day through UT, then the difference btw that and PAP?

Wouldn't it essentially just be that we save $28 per person, which would be $112 savings? Which is great, but still just not enough of a savings to get PAP for us. Is there more to it than that? I feel stupid trying to figure it out

If we stick with just the MYW with WPM and PH I was thinking I would buy the park tix with gift cards I get at Target at about a 9 1/2 % discount. Therefore about $1630.

Everything else will be paying the guy we rent DVC through (rooms and DDP)

Yes. Got to mousesavers.com and subscribe to their newsletter. They email it on the 15th every month. There will be a link to buy tickets. This will have your best savings you can get. It's where we usually get our tickets from.

I looked at the regular 10 day expiring tickets. I wouldn't worry about upgrading but that's up to you. The non-expiration costs quite a bit more but if you could justify the cost you could get 2 trips out of them, just restrict your park days to 5 per trip. THAT would save you big in the long run.

We use the 10 days to the MAX when we go. I thnk my whole family would rebel if I even mentioned not using them all in one trip. We usually do a 12-14 day trip and stay in values. My parents went with us last year and we were only there 8 days and we really missed the extra time. We usually spend each non park day at water parks all day, we missed that. We are renting from a friend that rents his points for what he pays per year so we are getting the rooms at a deal!!! The biggest issue is that now both of our kids are at adult prices, so OUCH! That's what is hurting the most, esp the DDP, but to get my husband to want to go he insists on the Dining Plan.

I understand about using your tickets to the max. We have APs are are totally spoiled.

Are you getting a villa with a kitchen? If you are doing a split stay you can get the dining plan with one resort and try paying OOP and using the kitchen at the other.

If this is your 1st time staying DVC, watch out.....you may never be able to go back to the values. Hope you have a great time!

Since you have time to plan, price out getting one person a regular AP and the Tables in Wonderland card. On a two-week trip, you very likely would save more money than with the dining plan.

I hadn't thought of that, but it would also have to include a WP AP. I will have to go to the website with the program to compare the two meal plans.

Won't the tickets expire on the 14th day? Meaning you wouldn't have tickets for the 15th day?

Also you pay for the dining plan by the nights of your stay, not the days.

We are getting the studio with the kitchenette. It will be more than we ever had in the values, so it will be a plus. Maybe only one week of dining could be an experiment to try. And I am afraid to be spoiled by the locations of the dvc's!

My oldest son has been planning to try to get into the college program for at least 4 years. He wants to be an Imagineer-so I know that AP's are in our future. Our youngest son wants to get into ride production-so I know YEARS of AP are in our future! LOL :)

We always start our tickets the first full day instead of arrival day. We still have time to tweak a little :)
You are right-it's just 14 nights at this point. We may cut down to 13 though
