We are off!

not sure i'd want to see a 70 year old tink!!

very cool that you got to be part of the 24 mk!!

as for the weather, we find the only way we're able to handle it is if we take a very very very long lunch at an air conditioned table service restaurant.
We'll sit there for at least an hour, sometimes up to 2 to recover before we can continue on our way.
But when the kids were little, we never made a full day of it.
We went back to the hotel in the afternoon and often never made it back to the parks in the evening, though we always intended to. that heat was just too much for us.

Yes the heat is a killer..... We opened Epcot today at the front of the line and were on the first Soarin flight of the day. Rode Test Track, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Malestrom, Ellen and the Mexico ride and watched Turtle Talk and saw characters at the Character Stop. Used a fourth and fifth FPP for the characters and Malestrom. Did a lot of shopping, I still need to go through the receipts but think I'm about $600 lighter than I was this morning. Eek!!! We visited most of World Showcase, had some chips and a pint (me) at the Rose and Crown and dinner at the Garden Grill which for some reason wasn't rotating??? Unfortunately the heat then beat us and we both have blisters so we gave up at 6.30pm. That means we missed Illuminations but it was just too hot and we had nothing left to do. It's nearly 11.30 pm here now and DD is only just going to sleep having spent a couple plus hours in the pool. She's doing really well given she's got no other kids to hang out with. We have also spent some time viewing the animals tonight at AKL which was pretty cool.

My observation of FPP is that is has it's plus points and it's drawbacks. As a plus my personalised TP worked great and we queued for nothing and our fourth and fifth FPP worked out well. The line at Malestrom was 50 minutes when we rode, which is madness. On the downside the tiering system has made it virtually impossible to ride Soarin and Test Track multiple times without spending a lot of time in line and the single order line at Test Track isn't a very good deal after 10 ish if today is anything to go by.

We have a lie in planned tomorrow with the evening at MK including dinner at Be Our Guest. Need to get to DTD at some point as we still haven't picked up our gift card.

Made me laugh reading how you are going to get the big plush home ... Ethan has his eye on the Simpsons Lego! Whilst it is cheaper than home it's 3.8kg of precious luggage space, I am still unsure so palmed him off with a football ... That also will be interesting to pack, lol

So with you on the weather, it is very humid!

Hi Aimee, Last couple of times I have looked for Lego I have bought back in the UK, either cheaper or same price in UK if you find a deal. If you let me know model and US price I will look and see if its worth bringing home (unless he wants to buy out there)

did you get your extra FPs at a kiosk or on your phone?

from what i've read of the different reports, everyone seems to be getting a lot of extra FPs...
i wonder if it's just the disney knowledgeable who are managing it and everyone else is sort of fumbling along..

hey Wayne, are you on the Magic TA this year?
i just got a price drop for it - it looks sooooo tempting..
DD is mad to go on the magic - it has captain america on it....(and maybe the other avengers too? i can't remember what she said)
she's dying to 'meet' captain america (you're never too old! ;) )

Currently sitting in our room at the Radisson Blu at Manchester airport. Flight is 11am but showing as delayed until 11.52am. Oh well never mind. We are going TODAY! Thanks for all the help waiting and planning. I will report back about Magic Bands and FP Plus and how they work and also SDMT. See you all in 10 days :)

Hi, Have a fab holiday:thumbsup2

You have to go to a kiosk but cast members are also there to help people. They work exactly the same as the mobile app. Lots of people holding the lines up with no clue what they are doing..... I advise getting your must do FP in advance as Soarin and Epcot were both gone by the time we had used our third FP at 12pm yesterday. Still was worth it to get extra. We got an 12 -1 FPP for the character spot at 12.50 at the FPP kiosk opposite the attraction and walked straight in past a massive line then went straight back to the kiosk and got a Maelstrom FPP for 2 - 3 pm. Could have got an earlier one. It works better at MK where there is no tiering.

I think it will work well if you're having a pool/rest day and going to the parks in the evening. We have three good FPP for MK tonight not starting until 6pm as we are not going to a park in the day. DD shattered already. We walked 10 miles around Epcot yesterday!!!!!!!

i'm guessing there are a lot of people who don't know what to do so they're just getting in the standby line.
The same as used to happen with regular FPs.
I'm sure those of us who are used to doing the parks commando style will take good advantage of those extra FPs :)

Yes, 14 nights on the Magic :goodvibes
We booked when prices were lower but still good at todays rates..
Don't know anything about these characters. Are they Disney? I guess they have bought the rights to them, I won't be in the line to see them:rotfl:

That would be great when you get a minute. It's $200 dollars over here. It's the Simpsons Lego house. Only one set they have out as far as I am aware. As soon as he seen it I knew he wanted it and have had hints ever since x

That's actually not a bad price, RRP is £179 so $200 is a saving of £50 or so. Tbh at that price I'd be tempted to buy two and stick one up on eBay in a few years time when they're no longer made.

That sounds like a good deal to me. Is that with tax? It currently is £179.99 for the retailers I have checked over here. I had the same dilemma with a Lego Death Star - although I decided against as it was huge. I did later get an online code for Lego coming up to Christmas. Wait until the end and see what else you have bought and whether you have any spare luggage allowance.

yes, Disney bought Marvel comics - all the Avenger films, and Shield and iron man and captain america and all of that is disney.
They're not allowed to have them in WDW, because of universal. (or something like that - i'm not familiar with any of the details - personally i couldn't care less!!)
But they have them in Disneyland and on the Magic.

Crazy that DD would be so into it (she's 29 years old!!!!)
when she heard they were on the magic she started campaigning for a magic cruise (i'd had reservations for us all on the magic for this summer - in the med - but i had to cancel them).

As others have said if you can get it for $200 + tax its a good saving over UK price and worth bringing back, although as soon as you land you know Amazon will have it on offer at the same price:rotfl2:

That would be just my luck!

Thank you all, we only have three suitcases so I may package it up and check it in as a fourth piece of luggage, sure I can do that!?

I'm a bit in love with Captain America at 28. I met him at Islands of Adventure and the accent just turned me into a puddle of goo!
