wow! Thank you!!! I’m looking at summer of 2022 or October (which is doable but a bit more difficult since we’re both 12 month employees of school districts)

If you are able to do October, it would be a much better choice, Summer in most National Parks is VERY crowded. We generally travel in September once school is back in session, but we don't have to worry about work schedule.
