We are Imagineers! Task: Improve Hollywood Studios

I love the ideas for a Beauty and the Beast castle and the Wizard of Oz ride! Hollywood Stuiod is so outdated, its my least favorite park. If they used the idea from this thread the park would be so much better. :rotfl:
Ok- well I heard that they were up dating Star Tours sometime. Im not sure where though, maybe on disboards? Cant remember, but it needs up-dating. And now that you mention it- Toy Story Mania doesn't fit in Hollywood Studios at all. They haven't been adding for the theme's sake. I heard that they have this rule that from now on if they add an attraction they will add it to another park starting with Toy Story Mania. So, yeah. We'll be seeing alot of repeats from now on if that is true.

The thing they need is to swap toy story mania with monsters inc. that would be a much better fit

I agree. I love Toy Story Mania, but it really doesn't fit in with the "movie magic" theme of the park. Even though Monsters Inc. isn't the best fit, either, it's still much closer than a shooting gallery.

They need to replace it with a Little Mermaid ride. That would go with the disney magic, or a Sleeping Beauty attraction.

thoughts on the back lot tour:

First off change the pearl harbor intro (who likes that movie anyway?) a pirates intro would be much more fun.

To increase the interactive elements (which should be one of Hollywood Studios biggest selling points) use the props store more effectively, instead the room being a glorified walk way like it is atm. and create a costume design area (primarily for children but you never know)...It really wouldn't take much: touch screen computers, talks from designers/CMs and work shops...it would be really really fun and utilize the back of the park in ways that will help the guest 'step inside the movies'.

As I keep on saying it's this back left part of the park that has been left a little bare over recent years but with some tlc and a little imagination it WILL be spectacular...I have every faith!

Love this thread! Just a few ideas off the top of my head (I'm going to add to some of yours)

* love the idea of a show being taped at HS -- maybe an interactive show and a kids show (another Mouseketeers club, but way updated, or maybe the new Jonas Brothers show could be taped there)

* love the idea of making mini films -- can we have some of them be silent movies? I just love Charlie Chaplin and the Keystone Cops. I'd sit and watch them make the movie, then I'd sit and watch the movie.

* my new ride would be Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory - not sure what part of it, because there are so many to choose from

* for stores, I'd love to see a prop and costume store -- there are so very few of these in North America. There is one in downtown Montreal that we visit every time we're there -- it's fun just to browse but we always buy something.

* we ate at the sci-fi and just loved it (yes we liked the food) -- I got the Reuben sandwich, so whoever mentioned the NY deli :thumbsup2

I agree that there is a lot of space with nothing happening. Walking the Streets of America just makes me sad -- I'd atleast like to see some more stores in there.

I know, other parts of the part are really starting to develop but it seems as if that area has been forgotten. It's especially frustrating when you consider how good the world showcase pavilions are.

They could have so much streetmosphere fun there too (HS GREATEST asset), if only the area feels real enough!

Oo I've just thought...a vintage clothes store would be amazing!!!! I know I'm not the only one who would adore something like that :cool1: :cool1:

ok -- just had another idea, but only Canadians will understand what I'm talking about. You know how Muchmusic has those street concerts and interviews with performers who come to Toronto? Can we do something like that in HS? How would you make this work?

I just think that the music side of Hollywood hasn't been explored enough -- films and broadway alone aren't enough.

(as i'm not from canada i'll just nod and smile lol) but honestly, it sounds great!!!

Why don't the do a REAL Narnia attraction. That is such a blockbuster, that it completely lends itself to a thrill ride. And there are more sequels on the way so it couldn't be a bad idea.

I'm afraid the third Narnia film has been canceled...Prince Caspian only did half the Box Office of The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe so Disney decided to cut it loose. I doubt we'll be seeing more Narnia at Disney any time soon.

I think a toy story thrill ride would be good...The guest could be woody being flown around the place by buzz. Although TS Mania is already there so I doubt they would.

What is up with the Narnia ride? We didn't know anything about it before we did it this year, and as you can imagine we were completely disappointed (DH actually says the only thing that disappointed him about the trip was the Narnia ride)

It's as if they built the waiting rooms and then ran out of money so they put in a museum. As a big fan of the Narnia books, I can imagine they could have done something really cool, maybe even similar to POTC.

If they can't build the rest of it and make it a real ride, I say get rid of it.

Ahahaha! It's sort of like the U2 "Where the Streets have no name" video, or whatever Beatles event that was patterned after. But not on top of the building -- they block off the streets to set up the stage, etc.

I know for a lot of the younger girls (my DD included) the High School Musical show is pretty near as good, but after watching it for the 3rd time in 1 day, I want something different -- something that is not going to be the same every day. You can hear the Muchmusic concerts for a few blocks down Queen Street, so pretty cool even if you're not actually watching. Would be great in the Streets of America or, maybe even a proper concert in the Fantasmic theatre (do they even do anything with that space during the day) :cool1:

I agree that Star Tours needs to be updated and a Wizard of Oz ride would be great. Especially if it were multi-media (like the Mummy ride at you know where).
I would also like to see better merchandise at the stores that line the boulevard. The facades of the shops are so enticing, then you go in and it's the same rehashed merchandise.

Re: Wizard of Oz, what about riding on a bike like on the ET ride at the same you know where. The witch, before she was a witch, rode a bike. Also, I think the jumbo screen like they have in time square would be good. Show ads for disney movies and tv shows, could have a cm "reporter" interview guests on the street and show on the jumbo screen. A deli over there would be great. DHS could use more restaurants. Also in the new york theme street vendors selling hot dogs, etc. would be nice.

omg i love the pirate idea. although it would be a little difficult to do, but hey, it's disney!!!

i'm a little fuzzy on the corp. side of WDW re the whole MGM thing. So maybe somebody can fill me in on the blockbuster movies that WDW is able to capitalize on, but hasn't yet.

Disney did cut it loose. But guess what studio is now going to make it, FOX.

I would love to see more experiences at Hollywood Studios that are immersive - i.e. where you can immerse yourself in another time period, like the Silent film era, or the Golden Age of the Hollywood musical. I'd love to see a whole backlot area with people in costume; shops and restaurants that continue the theme, and rides too. Sort of like walking into a film set such as "The Sting" or "Silverado". Maybe a Roaring 20's area and a Wild West area?

I remember the Magic Kingdom used to have a little shop that showed black and white early Mickey Mouse silent films. They should reopen that at Hollywood Studios.

It wouldn't hurt to have a great show either. Like a big Hollywood musical with tap dancers, a chorus line like the Rockettes, etc. They could take a cue from the former Opryland theme park in Nashville. They had terrific musical shows.
