We are finally going back, and no, we are NOT driving! A May/June 2013 PTR

We arrive the same day!!pixiedust: In fact, we could be neighbors. Staying at the same resort Garden view room. May 28th - June 4th!!:cool1:

:welcome: Glad to have you join - you are right, we could quite possibly be "neighbors!" Getting so excited now that the ticker says 4 months...:cool1:

Pin trading is so much fun! Have your children traded on other trips?

Nope! One of my friends suggested it last night, and I thought "Why not?" HA! Cause I need one more thing to bring and think about...I am sure it will be fun, now I am just worried that I might have purchased "fake" pins. UGH:crazy2:

I'd highly recommend park hoppers. They're great for last minute changes in plan, and for those 'I wish I could ride that one more time' moments.

I'm sure your girls are going to love all the Disney stuff you've got for the trip! I've never pin traded myself, but I know other people have a great time with it so I'm sure they'll enjoy.

Normally, DH does not get too involved in the Disney planning. He mostly leaves it to me, which is ok in my book! The only thing he usually asks is "How much is that going to cost us?" :rotfl2: This trip, he has gotten a little more involved. He has some friends at work who are frequent Disney vacationers, so they have said things like "Are you going to do _____(fill in the blank)" then, he comes home and says "Have you heard about______________(fill in the blank)?" Usually my answer is "Yes, already have that planned!" However, one new thing we are doing now because of his co-workers is (hopefully) the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party. I have been stalking the thread on the DIS to find out when our date opens up!

So, back to my original topic - Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom. Last night, DH said I should do some research about it because "Randy at work says it is a lot of fun!" Alrighty, so here is my start. Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth the time? We have a lot of flexibility in our schedule with 11 days, so I think we could probably fit it in :thumbsup2 Does it require any purchases? DH was wondering if we could buy something before we go, or if we just wait until we get there. Guess I need to do some research! If any of you have some good info, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Hey hey! Joining in!!! I have just read the first post and am already enjoying it! Our trip is May/June as well and I'm a teacher when I'm not Disney-planning. My DH doesn't exactly love it like I do and never ever plans any parts of our trips. Going back now to read the rest of your PTR!!

Read through it all while DH cooks dinner.....good man I have! :rotfl:

A few things -

1. Your girls are beautiful!!

2. 11 days is going to feel like heaven compared to your three on the first trip!

3. What is this FB group that everyone is talking about?

4. Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom - We did this with my boys (10 and 6). It is o.k. but I wasn't really that impressed. Everything that happens is on a screen unlike in Epcot. Also, once you've seen the first three people in line ahead of you do the same quest you are on, you can basically recite the video on the screen. My boys enjoyed it but it seemed boring to me. However, a must do on our list is the Phineas and Ferb Adventures in Epcot because they make things happen in real life. (Not trying to give anything away but one example is you may make a plant lose its leaves or come back to life....) So much of this adventure is interactive and neat, MUCH better in my opinion than the screens for SOTMK.

Have a great evening!

:welcome: Glad to have you here! I am a part of two FB groups, mostly since our trip overlaps the two months! One is called Disney May 2013 and the other is DisneyWorld June 2013 (DW is all one word!) Both groups have been super helpful, and it is always fun to "hang out" with fellow Disney lovers! Some of us are even planning on trying to meet up while we are there! Never thought I would do that, but I have really gotten to know a lot of fun people through the FB pages! As far as SOTMK, DH is really into gaming, and he used to play Magic the Gathering, so this really appealed to him. I think we will probably try it one day, see if we like it, then maybe go back! DH is already having me look on eBay for trading cards...:rotfl:

I am caught up now! I hadn't thought about SOTMK, but we need to try that. . .DH is a big game! We have never gotten into pin trading, but I am hoping DS will want to do pressed pennies on this trip!

Your trip is already sounding like so much fun!! I have thought about the dessert party, too--it looks great! I thought of you and your PTR today. . .I was making lists of things I needed for my Disney bin!

Danica, I'll soon be home to answer your questions. Do NOT buy any cards. They are free.

Thanks! I saw the link on the FB page, I will have to check it out. And I am not buying ANYTHING off eBay after yesterday's pin debacle...:rotfl2: I told DH that we can get a new pack of cards each day, but knowing him, he wants to come prepared with an entire deck:rolleyes1 I guess my only question is do you get one set of cards per person, or per family. Can you buy them at all while you are there? I know DH will not be happy with just a handful of cards!

Occasionally, at the Emporium, they sell a play at home game that has cards and one of the super rare cards. In all our times at the MK they haven't had any in stock. They sell out as soon as they hit the shelves.

Each person can get a pack of cards each day. So maybe you do want hopper passes? LOL.

What you might want to purchase is a book to hold your cards. We use a small baseball collecting book. I think ours holds 4 per side, so 8 cards per opened book. Sometimes the game will pick up almost all the cards.

Your husband may want to purchase the special T-shirt that powers up each card to the maximum level.

We enjoy playing both SOTMK and the Perry Game at Epcot. They are completely different games.

Our fam will be there May 30 - June 6 (saying at BC). Since you'll be at EPCOT so much, maybe we'll be able to meet up? :)

That would be fun! I would go to Epcot every day if I could, and I really have never spent much time there before - hopefully I won't be let down! I even checked into switching to BC or BWI to have close proximity to Epcot - DH just shook his head and said "We are NOT changing resorts!"
You helped me so much in the early planning stages of our trip! Everything is really coming together! I about died when I saw your post about your kids planning the trip in 15 minutes, especially after all I had been doing! HA! :rotfl:

So I was going through some stuff today, and I forgot to take pics of my bracelets I got! They are not with the Disney stuff because I wear them regularly. You can see that they are not Disney per se, but I bought them specifically for Disney! A friend of mine had a jewelry party, and the gal made these special order for me. I am really happy how they turned out, and because we are Husker fans, they work perfectly for me to wear them other times!

Here is a close up of the beads on one of them, it was hard to tell in the other pic, but there are polka dots on the big beads! I may or may not LOVE Minnie Mouse...

Not really anything else new to share - we are currently under quarantine here - both girls are sick, and have missed the first 2 days back at school since Christmas! Hoping the DD5 can get back to school tomorrow. She has not run a fever all day, but DD8 was running a fever again as I put her to bed - and she has been taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen all day, and can't have anymore yet. I disinfected every possible surface today!

Ha! It's much, much different with older kids. I was JUST like you about 8 years ago. My son's been immersed in Disney park stuff since he was 3 and he turns 12 this year so it's easy for him by now (and my daughter turns 18 in 2 weeks).

If you do go back w/in a couple years, it'll be much quicker and less time intensive. Also, little kids are so much more fun to do stuff for. Mine won't let me put bows or costumes on them anymore! ;)

Oh, and I meant to mention that I'm the same size as you right now with the same goal annnnd we're on day 6 of sickness for my son and my daughter was sick last week. We're living parallel lives. :)

creepy. :rotfl: Sounds like there is soooo much sickness going on right now! DH has had a cough since November...This is the second time DD8 has had this cough/fever thing, and my other DD was recovering from scarlet fever when she got it! We have definitely had our fair share of sickness! Hopefully everyone will stay well for the trip! We will have to look at schedules to see when a good time to meet would be. We should come over to BC - maybe DH would want to stay there next time? :thumbsup2

I've enjoyed reading your PTR. We'll be arriving on June 6, staying in a Royal Room at POR, and plan on the Dessert Party the same night!

Thanks for reading! I am really excited about the Dessert Party. It will be a great way to spend our last night in Disney - and a great way for you to kick off your vaca! I have been stalking the Dessert Party thread so I know when June opens up. I hate that I cannot get the ressies now! We will have to look for each other. Hopefully soon, I will be making a LGMH to put on my bag.

I stalk the ressie thread too. We've done it before and loved it. Hopefully the middle of April they will open up. Look for The VanSwol Family, as it on will say on our table and please say Hi!
