We are owners at BWV's and changed to BC 7 months out. It is 35 extra points from a standard view at BWV's. WE changed so our kids could take advantage of Stormalong Bay. They have been dying to go there.

Now I find out more than 1/2 of SAB is going to be closed during our stay.
I tried to re-book BWV's standard view, only a couple of nights are available.

I called member services requesting the extra 35 points back in my account since I am not getting what I am using those points for. She basically said no, we don't do that.

My thought is if I booked AKV's Savannah view, got there and the Savannah was mostly closes, I should only have to pay for a regular room, I honestly don't think it is unreasonable to give back the extra points.
If i could book the 5 nights at BWV's I would, standard view, I'd get my points back that way and save BCV's for next year!

I am not realy happy with the service I received or that we weren't even notified that the pool was going to be refurbed during our stay!!!

First, sympathy to you on this definitely adverse turn of events.

But, altho I truly do sympathize w/you, I don't agree that you (or anyone else in a similar position) is entitled to a points reduction ...

Pool and ride refurbs are a fact of life at Disney. They happen all the time, w/out much notice. They affect a whole lot of people who made their plans around whatever pool or ride or resort area is being refurbed. If DVC returned points based on that each time, it'd be a real mess!

Seems to me, one of the downsides of DVC ownership is the need to plan far in advance when that need is combined w/Disney's demonstrated lack of willingness to tell us, equally far in advance, when our accommodations will not be as we would normally expect (e.g., due to refurbs)...

I do think Disney would serve us well by tying notice of scheduled refurbs to our booking windows. But it has never been that way before and I don't see any sign of it being that way in the foreseeable future. We're definitely in a "you roll the dice and take your chances" sort of process...

Anyway, you do have my sympathy even though I do not agree that you're entitled to a points refund...

Hope you wind up having a great trip regardless...

We were there a few years ago when stormalong bay had a full refurb... the pool is closed in sectionally... from what I have read, it sounds like the slide is the main area that is closed the lazy river and sand pool will be open...You may want to pool hop over to BW on the days you want to use slide and stay at BC on the other days... Try not to be too upset about it... The location is still wonderful and the resorts do a very good job of "making" up for it when it happens...

A "Savannah view" room is, IMO different from having part of a main pool closed. At AKV, you specifically are charged extra points for a Savannah view. There is no "Stormalong Bay View/Access" room at BCV. If there were such a specified booking category, then perhaps THOSE rooms would be due a refund down to the equivalent of the other DVC rooms at the resort.

They do not lower all the points for an entire resort simply because an amenity is temporarily down for rehab. All the pools at all the DVC resort have to go down for rehab from time to time.

My thought is if I booked AKV's Savannah view, got there and the Savannah was mostly closes, I should only have to pay for a regular room, I honestly don't think it is unreasonable to give back the extra points.
First of all, I'm sorry that this happened to you, given that the main reason you switched resorts was because of SAB. But I did want to comment on your example. When Kidani Village was under construction, part of the Sunset Savanna was closed and there were construction vehicles and noise on that savanna. DVC members staying in Savanna View rooms in Jambo House who were assigned to the Sunset Savanna were not compensated. We stayed AKV Concierge Level at that time and had a room facing the Sunset Savanna so I can personally attest to the construction noise and the compromised view. Disney did something for cash paying guests of AKL but AKV guests staying on points were not refunded any points.

Many of us have been at a DVC resort when they were doing work outside the resort, cleaning, painting, etc. and the building wasn't closed or the section wasn't closed.

More than likely you will be offered the ability to hop over to Luna Park and use that slide. So you'll still have a slide to go down, just not at your resort.
