Just back from a long vacation that ended with 2 days at IoA and US. We had a great time at both parks on Sunday and Monday. Staying onsite made all the difference in our stay! Thanks to everyone who suggested it to me. We checked into RPR at 9:00 am on Sunday and Checked out at 12 on Monday. We used FOTL both days and all I can say is WOW!!!! In the 2 short days we had we saw all but 3 attractions. We rode several more than once even. It was just so nice. We would have had a very different time if we had been in the regular lines as they were pretty long.

The staff at Royal Pacific were very nice and most helpful. (Big difference from the 2 nights at Pop but it is not really fair to compare a deluxe with a value.) I didn't care for the room as I thought it was dark but that is just a matter of personal preference. The room was clean and a good size. I don't really understand why they put us next to the dog walk door (tower 2 floor 2) when we asked for a non pet room because of DS being allergic. But our room seemed fine with no pet hair so it was ok, just seemed like it would have been a pet room.

Any questions I'll do my best to answer. My best advise is stay on site!:thumbsup2

Glad you had such a good time, what were your favourite rides?

Sounds like you had a great time. The rooms are all being renovated in the next couple of months. You should go back and give us your opinion!:lmao:

Glad you had a great time! If, er i mean when, you stay next time, and if for longer, put your son's allergy on your res, that way if you get Tower 2, you can let them know you need a "non-pet" room

I do hope we will get to go back next year! We did have the allergy on the reservation which is why I thought it was a strange location. It was even talked about when we checked in:confused3 It is not important since he did fine. Is all of Tower 2 a pet wing?

For anyone who has not been there the room was very nice, very clean and really nice sized - nothing at all to complain about - I just didn't like the colors it was painted. It in NO way affected our stay. Are they painting them a lighter color? I will have to go check that out!

We all had different favorite rides: I liked ET, DS liked the coasters and The Mummy, DH liked Spider Man and DD liked Jimmy N. and Cat in the Hat the best. Really all of them were fun! I would have liked 1 more day. Since we arrived at about 9 and then left the next day at 3 we didn't get to see the smaller shows and just enjoy the environment. At least 1 full day would have been nice. But we know now that we want to go back and that was the purpose, just to see if we would like it.

We also went to Sea World for the first time and really enjoyed it too. I never thought I could be in Orlando and not go to Disney but I enjoyed the other parks so much I didn't even miss Disney.

yes..Tower 2 is for the pets....next time, if they give you a room number beginning with the number 2, tell them "no way".... That means Tower 2, pet bldg....ask for Tower 1...closest to parks w/ better views!

yes, supposedly florida pastel colors (didn't like the "preview" i saw:sad2: ...but, onsite is onsite....)

we are glad you enjoyed it...most "Disney lovin' peeps" can't see past Walt and his dream....but you seemed to have an "open mind"...which is what we tell everyone...you simply cannot compare parks! If you had a great vacation with the 2 days you went this year....imagine UO being the "main" vacation spot! :yay: ....and you CAN still go to Disney....we don't flame you here for that!:thumbsup2

I think our biggest problem now will be how to get the time to do all the parks! When we just went to Disney we could do a long weekend and feel like we mostly saw everything we wanted to see but now it will take more like a week to hop around the whole area. Also a day to check out of one and into the other onsite hotel. I'll have to do some reading about how to combine both Universal and Disney in 1 vacation. I don't see how they can be compared really. They are different and both really well thought out. I know that my DH and DS would not even consider not going to Universal now that they have been there.

It was really hard to know our Universal tickets were good for 5 more days and have to leave! It is not a surprise at all that the longer tickets are less money as the companies really don't want the guests to head to the other side of town. But that makes it expensive to visit both places in one trip. I have a year to figure it all out though!

i always start my vacation at disney on site and then move to universal hrh for the last 5 days of my time.

the hotels and the fotl perks spoils me..........
that's why i have to end with it at universal

Will this work? Since I posted my rant a few weeks ago about not realizing these hotels allowed pets, then getting accused of being a hit and run USO hater, I have now seen several more non pet people or allergic people getting put in a room or next to a room with a pet. We also requested not tower 2 (anything but!!). This worrying about a mangey barking dog ruining our trip is really making me worry which I don't need after doing so much work planning and spending so much $$ on this trip I don't need added stress. This is a vacaion, no?. The USO hotel I admit, I should have seen they allowed pets. I booked that one quick before I had the time to research it. I wouldn't have booked here at all and unfortunately when I found out, it was too late to stay at Disney for the whole week. If I get tower 1 or 3 we will be fine. Sorry, for a second rant. I don't hate dogs or animals in general, I am just very allergic and don't want to be kept up at night by them. AND I DON'T HATE UNIVERSAL. I just need someone to tell me not to worry it will be OK. Has anyone been placed in tower 2 and was able to switch???

huskies.... if you get Tower 2 (room number begins with a "2") tell them (don't ask) you need a different Tower. When you first check in, tell them you were hoping for Tower 1 with a view of the parks. Or, you at least want Tower 1 to be near the walking path/pool. If they can't find you something in Tower 1, then request anything in Tower 3. By what you're saying, I'd take ground level or obstructed view over anything in Tower 2. I'm sure if you would happen to explain your "severe" (not "very") allergy, they would be accomodating. If you cannot get satisfaction from the person helping you, INSIST on talking to their manager...or A manager. Do NOT settle for Tower 2 if you don't want it due to allergies, it will only ruin your trip. (If RPR doesn't have anything available in either Tower 1 or 3...which I doubt will happen), and they tell you the only thing left is in Tower 2, ask them to accomodate you at either the Hard Rock or PBH...that should work! :thumbsup2 Good luck and be sure to give us your Trip Report when you return...cuz now I'm gonna be waitin' to hear how you made out......

Don't worry....UO hotels are 4 star hotels and should do everything they can to make you happy! (Insisit on it!)

When we were there I thought we were in a no pet section as I didn't hear a single dog. I only noticed the outside door sign where they were to walk. Our room had a little card that said it had been specially cleaned. It really was fine, no animal oder or hair. I would have told them no if there had been any or if we were there for longer than 1 night. Next time I will just say no tower 2, and you should tell them that too. But if you end up there it really was clean and DS had no issues at all. How many people really take a dog anyway? It couldn't be too many could it?

Glad you had a great time, I agree with you on the pets thing, I love dogs and cats but see absolutely no point in bringing them on a vacation. I saw a family with a dog, no big deal but they were paying more attention to the dog than their own kids:rolleyes: just don't get this attitude at all.

At least they do make an effort to seperate pet sections from the others. And yes I would insist on not being in that wing if you are allergic, I wouldn't stop insisting if they give you a hard time about that, and if they say they have no other rooms available I would insist on making them put you in the HR or Portifino.

bubba's mom / Disneycrazymom / Spidey7 - Thanks so much for replying. I was hyperventilating when I was typing last night and this pet thing is just so overblown in my head, I know. I just need to relax. I am sure it'll be fine. But it is nice getting encouragement and support from fellow posters. I am so looking forward to the USO part of our trip. I have been before but this will my kids' first time and I know they'll love it. Believe me, I will definitely be reporting back in three weeks when I return how we made out one way or the other!!

One more quick question for you guys...We are planning our last day at Disney to be a full day then head over to RPR and check in late. Will that hurt my chances of getting tower 1 or 3? Should I drive over, check in then drive back? Or am I over worrying again???

:confused3

you should call the hotel directly and tell them your request of which tower you want and also let them know the late check in time you could be arriving.

call the day or 2 prior and also on the day you are checking in to make sure it is noted on your ressie.

rooms fill up as people check in in most cases.
