Update:
So we both got up really early this morning. We had not accomplished a lot on our trip, and this is our last day. I had eyed the humungous tub for days and finally gave it a shot. Good gracious, that thing is huge!!
Dh went to the mercantile and bought me some cotton socks to wear on the marsh walk while I finished getting ready. We went for the Marsh walk with the naturalist and learned about snails, mussels, oysters, reeds, wild pickles, and got a great lesson in wearing rubber boots. It was an interesting hour. The weather was cool, but not bad.
Afterwards, we went to the mercantile, and I bought a really cool hat to wear at Walt Disney World. It was straw, and had a black scarf tied around it with Mickeys all over it.

While there, I saw some very interesting place mats that were Mickeys intricately linked together. I think they call the color alien green. Hmmm. We walked back from the mercantile and found a bird feeder, and took pictures.
Afterwards, we jumped in the car to Savannah. We had to stop first to get power steering fluid. I have to explain about the power steering fluid. Our car has a leak in the reservoir, so we have to have fluid pretty often. This wouldn't be a problem except a very mean person at General Motors designed the power steering reservoir. Yep, you have to stick your entire arm behind the motor on the passenger side of the car. So we found a Dollar General and set out to change the power steering fluid. We found 1) the fluid 2) a funnel, and 3) set out to find a long hollow tube to go between the funnel and the reservoir. We looked at a child's baton, the cardboard tube in a role of paper towel, a feather duster with a hollow handle, and a pot scrubber with a foot long plastic reservoir for dish detergent. We found that we could destroy the pot scrubber the easiest, so we purchased that as well as a pair of scissors. So, in the tradition of McGyver, we changed our power steering fluid. I'm amazed that even the Dollar General in HH is in a relatively nice looking shopping center.
On to Savannah! We drove to River Street and parked. We walked all the way down River Street, stopping at various shops. Savannah has wonderful shops with original art and prints. Although River Street is a tourist trap area, the art prints are very nice, and there is a very nice variety. Dh found a really cool University of Alabama print with a crimson mat that he really liked, so we got it. We then moved on to the Savannah Candy Co. for a free praline sample. Everybody should do this. Wow! DH got some sugar free fudge and I got a 1/2 lb. pralines. (It was much less than I wanted, but 1/2 lb. more than I needed.) Anyway, we stopped and ate lunch at Lizzie's or something like that on River Street. It was pretty good.
We then got on the White Trolley. We had ridden it before. It provided an excellent tour of Savannah. It was just us and another couple, and I think the guide really gave us a good tour. I really like the tours because you learn so much more than if you just went wondering around on your own. With that said, I think its also really great for you to venture out on your own in your own car after you take the tour. So we saw, lots of beautiful squares, saw where Forrest Gump ate the box of chocolates, the house from Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil, the house of the woman who started the girl scouts, and on and on. Savannah is a really historic town, and you will learn a whole lot. We also tried to go in the Savannah history museum, but it was closed. We then drove around some on our own.
So finally, as the sun started going down, dh remembered that the tour guide said that this is the only time of the year that you can get into Paula Deen's Lady & Sons Restaurant. I was a bit apprehensive after reading really bad reviews. However, it was great! We were able to get in with about a 20 minute wait, and the food and service were both really good. I'm pretty sure Lady & Sons had gone down, and I'm pretty sure that they have gotten the quality problems under control. After our 1 and only visit, I would recommend Lady & Sons. While we were waiting, we went in the Lady & Sons store. I didn't see anything that I really wanted. I did consider getting my much older sister an apron that said, I'm still hot! It just comes in flashes. We parked a few blocks away, and I must admit that there were some unsavory looking characters hanging around that part of Savannah around dark. Paula Deen's IS NOT in the older historic district, but is closer to the City Market and downtown. Afterwards, we were full and waddled back to the car, bought gas and headed back to the resort.
We are settling in, and will be getting ready to head back at 8am in the morning.
Here are some pics. Sorry for the long report.
Please feel free to ask any questions.
