We are at Disney NOW!!

What an amazing son you have. That was quite a statement he made, so eloquently!:goodvibes Thanks again for taking us along for the ride!!!!!

Thanks for the reports!

I notice that your ADRs worked really well--the hosts always seemed to overestimate how long your wait would be, and the waits were never long.

Do most DISers find that to be typical?

Donaldsfan176,

Great TR - loved reading it !

Yes, it is sad when it is time to go back to reality !

" Buffalo " where ? Us too !

:cool1:

Thanks so much for sharing - It sounds like you guys had a great time! We're taking the 3 kids for the first time in September and we can't wait!
** We're from Buffalo too!! We live in Rochester now, but I grew up in the Lancaster-Elma area - It's a small world!!

Amazing report as if we were right there with you and your lovely family. WE're heading out in 4 days and can't wait.:hippie:

Thank you for sharing your trip report. I've looked forward to reading this thread. :)

Hi again. Remember me?

7/31 Check out day:sad1: After a quick breakfast in the room we started to pack it all up. After all was packed DW and I stood on the balconey and just soaked in the view for the last time. After about 5 minutes we turned to leave. I took one bag down to the car. It was so hot and humid I was drenched by the time we got to the car. I went back to the room and called bell services to help us. The bellman came to the room within 5 minutes of the call. We loaded our bags on the cart. DW,DS,DD went to the store in the CR to purchase the soundtrack to Spectro magic while I brought the car around to load the bags. As I was bringing ther car around there was a load thumping coming from the front end. We loaded the backs in the car then I put the car in the 30 min lot to get the family. We took one last look around the hotel and we were off. When we left that thumping in the car was not going away so we stopped at the car care center to have it checked out. They could not look at it so they sent me to a Goodyear on route 192. Seems as the front brakes went bad on the way down. After 4 hours of waiting we finally left at about 1:30. We arrived in Statesville NC at 11:15pm. Next morning we left Statesville at 9:30 and drove home to Buffalo (Kenmore. A first ring suburb of Buffalo) arriving at 9:00pm. On the way home we listened to the soundtrack from Spectromagic and relived the magic we had just expierienced. Good to be home? Sort of. Wish we were back at WDW? YES!

Some final thoughts. Were DO I begin! First I guess I should say Thank You To anybody who ever posted any information on these boards. We have been to WDW 2 other times in the past but never in July. (both times a the end of June) I was concerened with the heat and crowds this time. For six months I studied them and found which stragedy would work for our family. I would say that this was the best trip to WDW we ever had. Also thanks to all the kind words you've said about my reports. It makes me very happy to find that we were able to pass our magic to your day.

Second.... to all that are going to WDW in the future. I would strongly advise getting to the park at rope drop using the EMH and using fastpasses. Using this procedure we were able to ride major rides (Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, Test Track, Mission Space) about three times during the length of the trip. I think we only missed a couple of attractions in the MK (that we did not want to go on) We did everything in EPCOT, went on all the rides in MGM but did not do any shows by choice, Only did a few things at Animal Kingdom by choice. ( our least favorite park). If you are going to a park that does not have a EMH, plan on getting to the park at rope drop. The crowds will be a little heavier but you still will get alot done. We did try a night EMH at MK and EPCOT. We found the extra night hours to be much more crowded than the morning EMH.

Third.. The heat and crowds. Yes it was very hot and humid. Drink plenty of water. Go to the parks EARLY! (See above) leave after lunch. COme back after dinner when it is a little cooler. Crowds...It was very crowded in the afternoon. But we did miss alot of that crowd because we were at the CR swimming. I did not see a bunch of rude people. Probably because we went early (I sense a pattern here) when people were fresh from a good nights sleep.

Fourth..The entire Disney Expierience. Wonderful. The dining plan went off without a hitch. The entire cast (Minus a couple) were helpful and friendly. What you would expect at Disney. In past trips we would stay at a moderate resort. After trying a deluxe this time there was no comparison. SOOOOO much more convienient getting to the parks by monorail and not relying on the busses for EVERYTHING!!

Fifth...Rememember...Its a vacation. Don't get yourself stressed out when your there. Relax and have fun. After all...thats why you're there, to have FUN.

I tried to answer some questions in this post. I will be more than happy to answer any other questions you might have. I'm no expert but I may be able to help with some plans.:thumbsup2

One more time ( I can't resist)........."Please stand clear of the doors and take small children by the hand. Paging Mr. Morrow.....Mr. Tom Morrow

maybe a couple of years.

We leave on Aug 12th, and we will be following some of the tips we've gotten from reading your report. We always go off season with no plan because we don't really need one, but not this time. I enjoyed it made me feel like I was there with ya. Hope you can get back sooner, I know I couldn't wait a few years.. but then we go 2-3 times a year every year. Maybe that is why I don't worry about a touring plan.. I'm there too much.

Thanks again.

Here's another "upstater" that's going in just a little over 3 weeks!! you completely funneled in some of that magic and boy do I appreciate it! You are so right about these boards being one of THE most useful planning devices. both my husband and i used to WORK there! and let me tell you that we learned more from the disboards than anywhere else. I still think that all castmembers should be aware of and encouraged to join the Dis, they would be even more knowledgable! (how many times has one of us had to "walk" a castmember through ressies on the phone!) I am so completely happy that you had a good time, and I think that it's better to have car problems on the way home... better to stall the actual "getting home" part! I never ever ever like going home... the ony thing i look forward to is planning the next trip! glad you had a good time and that you got "broke in" for the weather we are FINALLY getting up here!:sunny:

Your reports left me teary-eyed. Thanks for keeping me updated on my "home away from home!" I can't be there for another 416 days, but you did a great job of making me feel as though I was experiencing your trip right along side you and your family! Thanks for the vicarious experience!

Glad you and your fam made it home safe and sound. Glad you had a MAGICAL vacation. Thanks for all the great posts.

I can't believe you drove all that way... WOW!!!

Thank you for your live Disney journal. Your description of your family’s last night was an emotional one. I was reminded of our last trip with my DW, DS11 and DD15 (this was her 3rd trip and his 2nd trip). The last ride of the night was the Carousel of progress, which has become a family tradition of ours. My daughter was only 2 on her first trip and we have tried to return every 4 years since then. So our Disney trips have been a carousel of progress as we have seen our family grow and mature. So we leave with that song in our heads and the MK in our hearts. We will be returning once again a week before Christmas. Each time I wonder if it will be the last as a family. When I was a kid, we went one time to Disneyland. It was the year the Haunted Mansion first opened. I cried all the way home from LA to San Francisco (well maybe not the WHOLE way). We never returned as a family. Anyway I vowed that when I had my own family, we’d go many times and we have. So for at least one more time, I umm we truly get to be kids again. Thank you again for your report and Thank you Walt!
