A package arrived from our TA today with our resort and ticket conformations. We will be staying at POP Century from June 5 through the 11th.
We are:
Me - 57 YO dad and teacher who is finishing my 30th year teaching. One more year until retirement!
Alison - My 22 YO daughter. She is paraprofessional educator working with reading-impaired elementary students. She has one year to go to get her teaching degree. She has lost over 60 pounds since our last trip. Compare with the picture at bottom.
Scott - Alison's fiance. My future son-in-law (FSIL).They are getting married in July and he is a good man. He runs the family concrete business and needs some time off.
Our last trip in 2005 was about as perfect as one could ask for. My oldest daughter is now married and since she is a dental hygienist, she must plan a vacation six months in advance. She loves Disney and wants to go next year.
If you have read our 2005 trip report, you know that my wife cannot stand Disneyworld. Her last trip was in August, 1992 and it was hot and very crowded. I cannot convince her that our May,2005 trip had none of these tribulations.
We are flying on SW out of Kansas City at 7:15 AM and should arrive at MCO at 12:55 PM. I purchased 7-day park-hoppers so that we could go to MK that afternoon. The HM clses on the 6th, so we have one day to see it. This is one of Alison's must-see attractions.
I would like to point out that two years ago we were in WDW on the 23rd of May, but this year we won't get out of school until May 25. We had a record ice storm this winter and missed 11 days of school. We were originally scheduled to go to school until June 1, but just today our Governor signed a bill "forgiving" four of those days.
I will fly home by myself on the 11th. I scheduled a 5:30 PM flight so that we could have an extra morning in the parks.
If I understand DME, I must leave for the airport three hours before the flight. Is this right?
I figured the $6 for two extra days,or half-days is worth it. How many of you spent that extra time in the parks before leaving?
Anyway, I will post a trip report after my return and I should have plenty of time since I have the summer off.
This website and all of you have been invaluable in the planning of this trip. I will have more questions as I think of them and maybe I will see another diser' at WDW; Watch for the lime green mickey on my camera bag and me acting like a big kid!
