Oh no, can't you see someone from VMK coming over to the Dis and banning us all for having out VMK titles in our signatures!

Now how can they limit what we say when we are not playing that game. Doesn't that take it a little too far? I get the idea behind it but does VMK seriously think they can disallow what we do outside of VMK.

What they mean is saying in vmk "Hi i am so and so on aim". They don't want vmk to be closed down because some idiot gives out personal info to another site.

This is not "another Disney site."

It is not owned or opereated by Disney or its affiliates. What that phrase refers to is other sites that are Disney-run, like Toon Town.

To the poster above, I think you know what they mean. For if it was a true disney site, none of would be here anymore. I am sure they are strict on Toontown. When they say other Disney sites, they mean fansites, which this is.

The way they state the question and the answer can be read different ways. And I think that was their idea. Fact is, many of us here were already DIS members before we started playing VMK. So we already had contact outside of the game. And we still have some sort of contact with each other outside the game. There is nothing they can do to stop us. I'm pretty sure that they really don't mean that we on the fansites cannot say who we are in the game.
I do believe that they are saying that we can not say within the game who we are on another site.
They sure as heck cannot ban everyone that tells people on the fansites who they are on VMK. If they did that, they would have to ban everyone here and everyone on the Fan Site, as well as all those on other fansites. There would only be them and a handful of players left.

Also, grammatically, their "myth" is not clear. Which is the myth?

1) while on VMK, it's OK to tell somebody your outside VMK user name at an outside site

2) while at another site, it's OK to tell somebody my VMK user name

I think option #1 is what they meant. But you could read their "myth" sentence as meaning option #2.

Even though I don't think the VMK really wants to deal with option #2, hunting down everyone on every fansite, for lists of user name / VMK name lists, and VMK names in signatures, and all that, I disagree with the people who say "VMK has no right to prevent us from posting whatever we want outside of official Disney sites, so it obviously won't be a problem posting whatever we want."

Truth is, YES, we have every right to post whatever we want outside of official VMK sites, and they have no "legal" right to prevent us from exercising free speech. But Disney / VMK also has the right to ban whoever they want to, and for whatever reason they choose. So, IF they chose to take our DIS username / VMK username list, and just ban everyone on it, they could do it, and we couldn't do a heck of a lot about it.

On the other hand, if they did something like that, some joker might find it amusing to post on fansites fake lists of VMK names / board names, and get random people banned. Fun fun

other fansites are just as strict as VMK is - toontown Central does not allow any exchange of personal info such as email alos. All I wanted to do was trade Toontown cards, but I cannot because it would require trading email addresses and real addresses. So they SUGGESTED I go to ebay and buy the ones I needed.

I know you are joking but here is what I posted in a different thread. I believe you met the tour guide I wrote about.

As for giving out your VMK name here, it probably is against VMK values. At least according to one very uptight VMK tour guide at Walt Disney World who seemingly went insane when I told him my VMK name. According to him, we are NEVER to reveal our VMK names to anyone else, it's against the rules. It took a while for his head to stop spinning around but it was kind of fun to watch.
