During parades we always head for the rides to take advantage of shorter lines or head for the exit to miss the crowds leaving. Are we making a mistake? :confused3

nope not at all, my family and i do the same thing. We have already seen the parades so many times theres no need to watch it again. Your not alone. :)

We watch them once in a while, but honestly, they never change much and we like to take advantage of shorter lines too. :sunny:

I think that is a personal decision - we make sure we see each parade at least once - it is great down time for my kids - my kids will sleep wherever so we tend to encourage them to fall asleep around 1:30 and then wake them up in time for the parade and it works out great!! (it also helps that my mom doesn't ride thrill rides and loves to just sit with the kids along the parade route and people watch - giving us an hour to ride before the parade!)

we tried to ride during parades on our last visit and it did not appear to drastically cut lines - but we LOVE LOVE LOVE the parades so the little time we did save was not worth it!

If you have already seen the parades, then GO FOR THE RIDES!!!!

But we at least like to watch SpectroMagic at least once while we are there....then we skip the rest! :cheer2:

We tend to skip the afternoon parade, but try to catch the evening parade once during our trip. Spectromagic is a family favorite. ::MinnieMo

When we were there the last time Spectro ran twice. The first time we rode, then got a spot to see the next one. My kids (4, 6, and 8) love the parades.

We also skip the parades to take advantage of the shorter lines for rides. Sometimes we just leave while the parade is going on to make it easier to get back to our resort. If we had kids, we may watch the parades more often, but with it being just the two of us, we just don't feel like we have to watch them for the 40th time...lol.

Just curious...Have you ever seen the parades?

Personally I LOVE the parades and we always go to see...well,....ALL OF THEM! I don't even think I could pick a favorite, although I was very partial to the MK Parade they did a couple years ago, the one before the Snowglobe parade. It never ever occured to me to skip one to do a ride, but that's just me! LOL! If you don't like parades...do the rides by all means!

I'm not a huge fan of the parades either. Especially if you go when it's sunny and hot. Not my idea of fun. I'd much rather be enjoying a ride :moped:

Yeah, we have seen the parades before. As a child, my parents made me suffer through them every single night of our vacation. I have never really liked them. When my DH and I got married, he had never been, so I had to make sure that he got to see them. Once he had seen them, he was also not that interested, so we skip them now.

Nope! You are smart! If parades don't interest you and/or you don't like watching the same ones every trip, then this is a great time to ride the e-tickets! :cool1:

Once I see a parade, I don't feel the need to watch it again. Unless of course it's the Main Street Electrical Parade or the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Parade. Those are the best parades for me. :teeth:

we've seen all the current parades at least once - we wont be seeing a parade again until they get a new one

We always skip the MK afternoon Parade. I saw the snowglobes once & was not impressed. We'll see the MK night parade once a year or so.
I have never seen Stars & Motorcars, which didn't look all that great to me. I did really like the other MGM parades over the years tho.
I have never seen Mickey Jammin Jungle Parade, but plan to see it this trip.

The only Parade we ever watched as often as possible was Tapestry of Nations. Now THAT was a Parade worth seeing repeatedly.

I've skipped the parades so many times. In MK, whilst everyone was watching the evening parade and fireworks, I went on Splash Mountain 5 times in a row! :cool1: Was soaked but i got to ride my fave ride again and again with no queues and I saw the fireworks from the top of Chickapin Hill which was fab. Although Fantasmic shouldn't be missed - get in v. early to get a good seat though!

Not at all. I don't think I've sat and watched a parade since I was a child. Just not my thing.

We occasionally catch a part of a parade, but normally try to be in areas where the parades aren't. Yes, there do seem to be a lot less people at rides during that time, which makes it very enjoyable. I guess before the children came along, we saw a few parades and weren't all that impressed. I guess the worst of it for us is standing in the sea of humanity several people deep and trying to see over the tall guy who always seems to be standing in the front. Getting there an hour early just to see a parade is a waste of time for us. We'll take a little time to stake out a spot for SpectroMagic, but that's the only one we go out of our way for. ::MinnieMo

I've seen them and I enjoy them. I even bought the Magic in the STreets cd and listen to it all the time. I've just seen them all a bunch of times and I get sick and tired of dealing with rude people who shove kids out of the way, step in front of wheelchairs and otherwise fight like tantrum throwing toddlers to get a good viewing spot. After a while it's just not worth it.

I remember the parade you mean but I forget what it's called. I think I have pictures of it somewhere. :)
