we almost had to cancel our trip!

My job is very lax when it comes to approving vacations. I submitted a request for my trip over a month ago. I assumed it would be safe to book a trip since I will be going at a time that anyone really is interested in (October/November). Not only did I plan my trip, but my manager was well aware of my plans. Today I get called to her desk and she said "There's a problem with your vacation. Someone else requested the same time off." My heart sank. I don't have seniority over this person! I quickly ran and called to ask her if she would switch with me and she said not a problem since she didn't have plans. I went back out to my manager and she said the dates that were a problem were the second week, which is okay because I am home by then! I averted a huge catastrophe, but not before having a minor heart attack!
