We all have the flu

You can do it! I'd be glad you got it now, time to recover and unlikely you will get sick again in time for your trip :) Take it slow, make lists of what you need done and slowly work on it.

Does it really matter if it was "actually" the flu or not? We had all the symptoms of the flu with the addition of vomiting. Good times. It's all viral, why does it matter?
The middle kids are recovering fast. Hubby and I are still wiped out and the baby is cranky and whiny. I have to go back to school tomorrow and I've stool got a ton to do to get ready for the trip. We can do this!

I think people asked because it makes a difference in the recovery time and how it's treated. A lot of people mistakenly call gastrointestinal viruses "the flu" and they are not. Recovery time for most gastrointestinal viruses is a few days at most. They usually don't result in secondary infections.

True influenza has high fever, body aches, and respiratory symptoms. My first symptom as tightness in my chest and coughing. The body aches and fever didn't start until several hours later. Secondary infections are not unusual and can be serious. Recovery takes longer. For me, I was barely able to get out of bed for 3 days and didn't really start to feel normal for a week. It really wasn't until almost 2 weeks past when I came down with it that my energy level was back to normal.

This is it, exactly. When I had the flu, I wasn't myself for 3 weeks after and I ran a delirious fever of 104 degrees during the worst of it. When I had norovirus (stomach "flu") I was better within a week though I felt horrendous for the 3 days when symptoms were acute. So, stomach virus will have you all feeling fine by Disney but influenza may leave, the adults especially, still dragging a bit when you start your vacation.

Okay that makes sense. We all had the body aches, chills, no idea what temps were we don't own a thermometer. We all have coughs. And other than the little one we have each only thrown up once. It happened suddenly, and one right after the other. It wasn't like "I think I might be getting sick" it was "I feel fine" and then minutes later "I want to die!". It started Wednesday and we all seem to be over the worst of it. Now it's just the coughs and the tiredness. We are taking vitamin c and elderberry syrup.
