Who - Me (WDWLVR) and DH (MarkRG on the DIS). Very experienced WDW veterans. First and only trip to the World this year.

After visiting WDW 3 times last year it felt kind of strange to go an entire year between visits. We did have two DCL cruises so it wasn't like we were Disney deprived.:D

This trip was actually planned last year in hopes that there would be a DIScon again. Since there was no DIScon we just really enjoyed the parks but did go to the DISmeet at the MVMCP and the Mega Mouse Meet on Saturday.

Day 1 12/2- we were up at 4 am for the drive to O'Hare airport and our 7 am flight. The flight down was pretty uneventful and we even managed to get in about 1/2 hour early. When we first arrived our driver from Tiffany Towncar was no where to be found, but he showed up a few minutes after we got our luggage. We were soon on our way to the Contemporary resort. We are DVC but since we used points this year for the DVC Member Cruise and sending my in-laws to Vero this was a cash trip. In all my visits to Disney I had never stayed at the Contemporary so this was a first for me (DH had stayed there as a child). We got there about 11 am and there was no line at check-in. We found out that all our requests had been met (upper floor, king bed, and best of all a Magic Kingdom view!). The room wasn't ready yet and we could have had another if we wanted to change, but we decided to wait.

We checked our bags and headed over to the Poly for lunch at the Kona Cafe. This is one of DH's favorites. After a really nice lunch we called and found out the room was ready! Back to the Contemporary to unpack and start vacation! The view from our 9th floor room was fantastic. It is so cool to be able to sit in bed and see the castle! Hey - big kids get excited about these things too!

Next stop was the Magic Kingdom. So very cool to see the 75 Mickey's. We had the Cows here in Chicago a number of years ago. We've also seen the Snoopy's, Charlie Browns, and Linus's on our visits up to Minnesota.

First stop once we got in the park - the hub so I could visit the Dumbo statue (kind of a tradition for me - I don't feel like I've started a vacation here until I've had a chance to rub his ears). Next stop was to see the new Mickey's PhilharMagic. Awesome show! Lines were non-existant so we also did Pooh, Cinderella's Carrousel, and Dumbo in Fantasyland. Next up was Tomorrowland where we did Carosuel of Progress (an old favorite) and Buzz lightyear.

Headed back to the room and found that my wonderful DH had sent flowers in a cute WDW mug and with a stuffed Sorcerer Mickey. Too cute!

By this time it was time to leave the Magic Kingdom and head over to Wilderness Lodge. We were doing dinner over there and then doing the new Sleigh Ride. Dinner was a Whispering Canyon and was good. We then went out and met Kelly, our diver, and our horse Mac. The sleigh ride was peaceful and beautiful going though the dark woods and was a great way to end our first day.

The day didn't quite end there as we got to see the Holiday Wishes fireworks from our room. WOW! These are fantastic - especially the ending where they shoot out the fireworks even over the Seven Seas Lagoon.

By now we were both beat so it was off to dreamland!

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Mary: What a great start to the trip. I enjoyed getting mini-updates on our cruise thread too.

How thoughtful of Mark to send the flowers.

And Philharmagic sounds really nice.
