Day 6 11-17-03
Today wasnt a great day. Now please bear with me as its still hard for me to sound like I am venting. There were positives but this wasnt the best day in the trip. Woke up early due to the VERY loud vibrating engine sounds in our stateroom. Being in 6654 was great in every other way other than when docking and departing ports. It was Nassua day and we had booked an excurison with Stuarts Cove to snorkel but it wasnt until 12 pm. So I got up and well had diareah(sorry prob way to much information..but) Oneill got up...had diareah and a fever. So after debating for an hour decided that it was only right to check into it at the infirmary due to the signs everywhere that tell you to and also because I didnt want to be the cause of everyone else getting sick. Now as a side note here I have IBS so it could have been that, but I just didnt feel right about taking our chances so to the infirmary we went. It was clean and well staffed for those that wonder about it. The Dr felt that our symtoms were Norwalk and yes we were told to go back to our rooms right away and that we couldnt leave them for any reason. However we could get off the ship at Freeport if we were symtom free until then. The visit was free due to the fact that they require you to go to the ships dr for vomiting or diareah. We were given some otc meds and headed back to the room. I was trying so hard to keep it upbeat for Oneill so I pointed out all the wonderful things we could do in our room. Gameboy, movies, games, coloring. Yeah just what I wanted to do for the day! LOL. Well once in the room we were contacted by guest services. I have to give DCL a big thumbs up for the way they handle this. They really do all they can to make being isolated in your cabin livable. They do however call frequently to make sure you are really in your cabin, if they call and cant get ahold of you they send someone to check in. I understand why and didnt complain one bit about it. They offered some games for Oneill, and informed me that they are all new games still in the wrappings and that we could take them home with us if we wanted. They provide all food via room service, and you can order from the regular menus. All soda and alchol (I found that kinda funny since it says all over your medical sheet to avoid alchol) free of charge. Thank goodness we had the verhanda so I could go out and look around and just soak in the fresh air , and wistfully look and those coming and going. Oneill was quite happy most of the day as he was allowed to watch a million movies and also play gameboy and I think we played Hi Ho Cherry Oh at least 1111111 times. ( it gets old quick, trust me). Since I was on the pin cruise I ended up missing well...95% of any pin trading so turns out leaving my pin bag in my car wouldnt have hurt(I did get it before we left though). I did call and ask that they deliever any rsps to me and for the most part that went ok, I did miss out on a few pins however. And missed out on any signings. Oh well...next year right? So after the day I was really looking forward to Freeport, even though originally I wasnt gonna get off the ship there, I figured it was at least out of our room. You should note that the isolation allows you at port if you are symtom free for 24 hours and get drs clearace. But you still are not allowed in public areas of the ship for another 24 hrs for 48 of cabin isolation as long as you are symtom free. So finally the long day came to and end and bed time arrived. It has to get better right??????
