Well we did it. A long weekend in WDW and I would do it all again in a flash.
The wed night started off great with a quick flight down to Gatwick and checked in to the Le Meridian. Nice hotel in the north terminal but didn't use any facilities.
Checked in with Virgin at around 7.30am and was given an invitation to the lounge (yours for only £25 each). The peace and quiet beckoned and of course the champagne, so off we trotted.
The lounge was, as usual very quiet, with the service superb as always. Actually they were a bit over attentive, but after the £50, who were we to refuse breakfast, champagne and coffee. (x2)
The flight itself was upto Virgins standards, with the food an improvement on our flight in January to Barbados.
Into Orlando, on time and the battle commenced. We landed the same time as the BA flight so it was a push all the way to get throught the added security, through immigration and onto the car hire desk before two very full flights tried to squeeze through at the same time.
Car hire was by Alamo - not my favorite but resonably cheap at £120 for the 4 days. " Would you like to upgrade sir?" - got any deals? "Full size car + petrol for an extra $80" - no thanks. "how about a luxury car + petrol for $80" - make it $70 and you've a deal. "OK - sign here, walk across the road and pick any car from the luxury row"
Luxury car + full insurance + tank full of petrol for about £160 - not to bad
Anyway onto the best bit ... 50 mins after landing we checked into the Villas at Wilderness Lodge with a great "Welcome Home".
The rest of the break was very lazy, sunbathed till about 11.00am, heat was then too much, shopped and lunched until about 3.00pm then back out to quiet pool, which was very quiet ( unlike the main pool which was heaving.)
Many fantastic meals at Artist Point, Outback Steakhouse, Downtown and room service.
And to top of a fantastic break, an upgrade to Upper Class on the way back.
4 days at disney - no parks . I would recommend it to anyone with a little experience of Orlando .... now back to work.....
The only downside, being two sets of noisy neighbours. Do some of these kids not come with a volume control?
any questions ?
David
