Anyone do Disney with a baby this small? I have been with my DD being eight months and that was pretty easy but will it be any different with an eight week old? I will be there the end of Aug to the beginning of Sept with my DH, DS 5, DD 3 and of course our newborn.

I have been to WDW when my girls were that age(we always had a great time and it was VERY easy), but never in the hot summer months. I would ask you pediatrician about sun block, or what they would recommend to use. MAke sure you have a nice big hat.
There are several companies that make Solarveil clothing or blankets (the Solarveil has sun protection) It is a VERY light and breathable fabric. You can also get a solarveil or solarweave(much softer) slings if you are interested (you can thake it right in the pool too..lol) Hotslings.com sell some and chicslings.com have some.
I would be VERY careful about using an infant seat.they get VERY hot inside there, if you do make sure to line the inside with a white towel..or if using a regular stroller do the same...
I would say make sure to nurse often (if you are nursing) or make sure the baby is getting enough fliuds from formula.
A clip on fan for the stroller is good, and mae sure you get in the a/c often.

we were there last year around that time and it was HOT. I can't imagine trying to keep a baby comfortable. If you are going this year, its during free dining so the resturants will be very busy and so will the parks.

We just got back on the 13th and Kate was 7 weeks old for that trip. It wasn't hard but she's a pretty easy laid back baby. We stayed CL so that helped because for her middle of the night feeding I would take her out to the lounge. I got to watch tv while she ate and didn't have to worry about waking the older kids (or DH.) He would take her in the afternoons and I would nap with our other DDs.

We spent the days by the pool until naptime. We got to the pool in the morning and got a table in the shade. Kate would sleep in her stroller and I attached a stroller fan and kept her shade up. (I didn't use the car seat just the stroller.) After we ate dinner we would head to the park. I didn't find the heat to be unmanagable for her once the sun went down. I either wore her in the sling or she slept in the stroller (again without her carseat.)

I did use sunscreen on her but sparingly. According to my ped the problem with sunscreen on an infant under 6 months is that they aren't able to regulate their body temperature through sweating as effiecently as an older child/adult and slathering on sunscreen makes it doubly hard for them to sweat.

My ped also said it was ok for her to have an ounce of water per month of age so on super hot days I would give her a couple of ounces of water. We totally didn't stress on this trip and really took our time because we knew we would be back in November. I don't know if in the heat it would have been possible to do a commando style trip with a baby that age at that time of year. It is just sooooo hot. I think if it would have been cooler we would have accomplished much more because the heat really would have been stifling for the baby during the day.

HTH! Have a magical vacation!:thumbsup2

We took our daughter to dland last summer when she was 12 weeks old. It went just fine, we did have the clip on fan for her stroller and the biggest lifesaver was the Baby Care Center at each park. We pretty much planned the days around her feeding times, then had a nice half hour or so in the cool air.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

DS was 7 weeks old on his 1st Disney trip. It was September & HOT. I carried him around in a front pack most of the time, so I was uncomfortabe but he sure loved it, slept all day long! Make use of the Baby Care Centers in all the parks - they were a lifesaver! They are air conditioned & very private. I would sit in a rocker & nurse or use the microwave to prepare a bottle, or just sit & unwind in the AC for a few minutes with the baby out of the infant carrier.
