Young adult daughter won't get her cast off her wrist until we get back from WDW. :sad2: Will she run into any problems trying to ride any rides? Doctor doesn't seem to have any problems with her going on anything as long as it doesn't get really wet. It was only a small hairline fracture not a full break.

We're all scheduled for the Segway Tour Around Epcot on our second day. I guess she'll be the picture taker.

maybe take a plastic bag to put on it for rapids, other than that i can't thnk of any problems

I wore a "removable" cast on my hand to WDW and had no problems, other than the fact that I didn't go swimming with it. Kali might present a problem if she gets soaked, but you can always wrap it in plastic before she rides. Other than that, I can't see any problems that would preclude her from having a wonderful time.

Thanks for the info...we were worried the CMs might not allow her on the E-rides.

With the cast on, does she have any trouble cutting meat? If so, reassure her that the servers are very nice about having meat precut in the kitchen, and they're pretty discreet about serving precut meat to adults. I went to WDW a week after surgery on my right wrist, and I couldn't cut meat. I was so embarrassed to ask for my meat precut, but the servers were always very nice about it.

I didn't even think about that...thanks for the great advise!

A few years back my ds went to disney and universal with a cast on his arm. I had called disney before going and asked if there would be a problem with any of the rides and they had said no. We did not have any trouble. The only time we had trouble was the second time we rode dueling dragons at IOA. They said he had to sit on the outside so the cast is not hitting anyone. Also on the water rides we took out our rain poncho and wrapped his arm. We did buy this blue rubber thing that we got at a drugstore that makes it waterproof but he hated it. We did not go to any water parks because I thought it would be unsafe at the wave pool. Towards the end of our stay we did not care if it got wet. We decided to just call the doctor when we got home and get a new cast put on which we did. So to answer your question, no you won't have any problems with any of the rides with a cast on an arm.

My DD went with a broken thumb and the cast almost to her forearm. Our orthopedic doctor advised that she stay off the bumpy rides, so we skipped Big Thunder Railroad, Space Mountain, Dinosaur and Kali River Rapids. Kali is hit or miss with the water. We've been on when you don't get wet at all and other times we've needed a change of clothing.

Here's a fun idea for the cast. If you have it pre-marked where it will be cut off, and if she's into characters, have the characters sign the cast except where it will be cut off.
