My husband and I are traveling to WDW for 4 days in January. Has anyone tried using a child carrier/backpack with aluminum frame for the day? We are concerned with where we would put it if we stopped to eat, etc. Thoughts?

I don't see that as being very practical.

Have you looked at either of these?

Ergo: http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/

Beco: http://www.ecobabies.com/

The Beco folds down more compactly, in fact it has a strap that allows you to roll it up and keep wearing it with no child in it (granted it's not attractive, but it is functional). The Ergo is easier to get and is more "mainstream" looking. Both would be great for a 1 year old (go up to 35lbs comfortably) and you can do front or back carries with both (it takes a bit of practice to do a back carry on your own, but a 1 year old is generally pretty cooperative, and if you are with your spouse, it's really easy to do). The front carry would be good for rides, especially if your child turned out to get scared on some and wanted the security of snuggling with you.

I'd go with a stroller for a 1 year old. If you don't want to take one, rent one. There's no way I'd carry my almost 1yo all day at the parks!

We carried my (heavy!) 9 month old all over the place in our Ergo in September. If he was on the front, he could stay in it on most rides (and we didn't have to wake him up if he was asleep). I was worried it would be too hot, but between going in and out of air conditioning and my husband and I switching off carrying him, it was really fine. Of course, we're used to carrying him in the Georgia summer! I think a frame backpack would be a pain on rides and stuff, though.

We just got back with my 14 month old! A comfy stroller worked great!!!! She napped in it, ate snacks in it, plus I could chase my 4yo around!
