WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

Big difference between the BWI fiasco and this. BWI you were getting the room for nothing and new it. With these codes you are actually paying for the room. I would bet if you have been able to make the reservation with these codes everything will be O-tay as Buckwheat would say.

This is absolutely false.

no duh:rotfl: , of course I wanted in on the deal too!

Don't think you can draw the line in the sand as to "getting the room for nothing" and "non postcard recipients" getting the room 40% off though (both using a rate that wasn't valid)...matter of semantics IMO.

I don't think Disboarders know how unmagical Disney can be..and Disney reads these boards or get reported to about them, so they know exactly what is going on..There is no limit on how unyielding they may be in handling it..Time will tell. Good luck to all, but if you turn your nose up and try to take the moral high ground you may get bitten in the proverbial...***.

Sure you can. The BWI was a computer glitch which allowed people to book at that one hotel for absolutley nothing and Disney was in the blind to it until everyone tried to book. The 40% off is a promotion that Disney sponsors, and it seems from the posts that ive seen, that Disney is now asking for the pin code to do it. People have even been getting told that they will honor it without the code but you cant change the reservation.

And if people think that you have to show the 40% off postcard when in no way does it say you need to on the postcard then Disney is breaking a consumer law just from the cm's who are telling people that. Its called a bait and switch and this is the legal definition:

A bait and switch is a form of fraud in which the fraudster lures in customers by advertising a good at an unprofitably low price, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available but that a substitute good is.

Many people were told they are eligible for a discount or the cm;s just gave the discount without people even asking. Disney cannot ask for the postcard by law. They will have to call you individually and ask for a pin code confirmation before payment is sent. Thats the only way they can fix this mess if it is a mess in their eyes.

Gee, I see no one taking any moral high ground here. We got good deals and aren't going to worry ourselves every minute whether it sticks. Sounds like you are the one on the moral bandwagon.

I am talking about the people who say that the BWI was a free and obvious glitch and shouldn't have been honored, but those who are calling CM's 10/20 times till they get a code attached, though they don't have one, is a completely different story and can't be canceled or altered!

Wrote this before , and I will write it agian. I will be VERY surprised if any check in CM asks to see a postcard, or even cares.
The only indication of this is a few people posting they were told this by whomever.
As has been pointed out many times, many guests don't have their postcrads, were thrown out before booking, kids played with them, etc. Not to mention the many who just forget the card or figure they don't need it.
I think Disney would just be happy if all guests used the luggage tags and read what materials they mail. :rotfl2:

:confused3 You most certainly welcome to your interpretation/opinion on the matter.;)

certainly no argument with your statement that I've bolded, it's standard M.O.:thumbsup2

Just stating what has happened in the past in similar situations.

This is absolutely false.

The codes this time have nothing to do with the BWI situation last year. That was a computer glitch and everyone ran from here to there to get it. When the error was found Disney used the Terms of use in order to cancel those reservations for the "free" rooms.

This current code thing has the CMs allowing people to book this for almost two weeks now. I think by now Disney would have put a stop to it if it in fact was a real problem for all of us. Some of us were able to book the discount, maybe all of those have been legitimate, while other have not, me included. My dates were not in the correct time period according to the CM that I spoke to.

Let's see if anyone receives a phone call, e-mail or letter telling them that the discount rate that they booked was wrong and will be canceled. I bet everyone who booked will be OK because the code was good.

So now what was your point? As I said the situations are totally different, the BWI fiasco would have been a dream come true because the computer error gave you a room for nothing. This is not the same situation. It is totally different which is very obvious to most of us.

IT WAS NOT A FREE ROOM AT ALL. DEEPLY DISCOUNTED? YES. NOT FREE.

Beyond that, I hope everyone one of you get to keep the discount!

Deeply discounted, is that what you call it? Come on, what was the deal that everyone was getting? I'll take the time to figure out the "discount", you have got to be kidding.

People are paying more now than they would have if they kept their normal reservation. Alot of people have admitted that they would have only stayed 5 days at POR but since this 40% came out they are staying 8 days at Poly Concierge because they may never get the oppurtunity to again. And even if people are calling 10/20 times a day, its because Disney has not been brave enough to come out with how they are releasing the discount. So everyone is under assumption that they deserve it as well. The BWI glitch was just that,a glitch, and those should not be honored because that is an unfair way to achieve it. It cant be immoral if you dont even know how Disney is operating this discount.

Paying for a 1 day pass for a family of 6 for EACH day of your stay in my mind is not a "free" room. It would cost me less to book a deluxe room with my AP discount.

Or $1300 for 2 adults/2 children 5 days value season, non hopper passes.
That's free? Not even close.

I recieved a postcard and then lost it! We were not planning on going this year because of money, but got to thinking if we got a very good deal we might. So I called WDW and told them I could not find my postcard, the CM said no problem if you received one it would be in the computer and sure enough it was! So I booked us for POP for the week of March 18-23 and saved $400.00! Now we are counting the days!

We will be there too the exact same dates at POP!! I got the exact same PIN and fwiw I DID NOT print out my email...if I needed to do so it should have stated on the email...must need this copy in print at time of check in...

I could care less. My pkg is paid in full and we are off to the world soon!!

I guess buying the tickets is not free, it is buying tickets to disney with a bonus room included. We are just splitting hairs. just wait and see what happens. Everyone here feels very strongly that they are in the right and no one is going to convince them otherwise. Just be happy we can all afford a Disney vacation. I know a lot of people that can't

Hello all! After reading through this thread which I haven't kept up on because we are in the process of closing on DVC points, I had to at least call and try my luck.

I tried from my mom's house for her while she was watching my 3yo in the other room, and they wouldn't tell me anything on her account, but she did get on the phone and got the lousy news that she had no PIN.

I asked her to hand me the phone back so I could check mine, and I HAD A PIN. I couldn't beleive it, yet somehow I wasn't surprised for some reason, like it was meant to be.

However, I received no postcard in the mail, and my email address has been wrong in the disney system for 2 years now, no one will fix it!!!

I qualify for a significant discount for about 12 different weeks in 2007. Can do room onlys or a package. I most likely will do room only because if/when the points go through, we will buy AP and the discount card for meals, can't remember it's name...

Anyway, it's worth the call! Didn't need the actual card, the discount was just sitting there waiting for me to ask for it! Thanks again, fellow Disers!:grouphug:

That is strange, not about the pin # thing, but them not changing your email in the system. When I went last year I had made both ressies online, but this time I called and for some odd reason they still had my email from 5 years ago??:confused3
I told the CM I thought it was weird cause you'd think with the last 2 ressies and that I use my new one online it would be changed in the system?? Anywhoo, he changed it to my new one while I was make my new ressie. Maybe when you make your next ressie or even when you check in you can ask the CM to put in your new email??;) :)

This can't be the first time a post card or email discount has gone out.

In the past, what has been the policy with postcard or email discounts. Has anyone every had to present it at check in?

Other than this 40% off code, has anyone ever been able to book these types of discounts without actually having the pin, perhaps, if this is the first time, it may be a glitch in their system allowing the reservations to go through.

I know that when I have booked with CAA discounts, I'm asked my member number, but I have never been asked at check in to see my card.

We have been around and around and around and around on these issues on this board.

Good golly. It's safe to say none of us know the answers to what Disney will or won't do in regards to this situation.

We've all been told different things from the various CMs and supervisors on the phone. There is no firm answer right now. Going around and around just serves to raise peoples blood pressure and raise anger and resentment among DISers.

Leave it be.

J
