You know - as much as Ricky would not have won, I am going to miss him...he has personality - and personality goes a long way...not to mention the fact that I thought Tuesday was his best performance yet...

I can't believe Caldwell didn't go. I was so happy when they sent Kim L back. Thought for sure Kim C was gone. Never imagined it would be Ricky.

I remember reading on one of the AI posts that maybe the people are keeping Carmen and Kim C around a little longer so that when it gets down to lets say the last 5, 2 of them will be an easy vote off, leaving CLAY, Ruben and the last one.

I am officially done with American Idol!

I'm sorry but that really PO'd me. ALL THE GIRLS ARE WAY WORSE THAN RICKEY. Fox set that all up with the carry over of the votes from last week. Fans already knew who was going in at a disadvantage so they voted extra. This is not a talent show, it has turned into a popularity contest, and I HATE popularity contests.

While Rickey would not have been the American Idol he was a breath of fresh air on the show and his smile would light up the room. He truly seems like a nice guy. I hope he is able to find something that will showcase all of his talents.

It takes a lot for me to get upset over some stupid show, but I was near tears. It wasn't right. While I can't wholly compare it to the Tamyra Gray debacle last season it is darn near close. It seems to be the producers may have a hand in this. I really don't know.

on a funny side note: anyone else think that maybe OT is somehow controlling all this?

For a quick sec - I want to jump back to Tymara Gray...although I agree at that point in the competition - she should NOT have been eliminated...I can see how it happened:

I think that the public is so TIRED of these Whitney/Mariah/Diva type voices (same sound song after song after song...) What do these *kids in the AI audience want*? Flippin Britney and Justin...so I can TOTALLY see how although as talented as Tymara is...her style was not a fan favourite...

and especially after Kelly Clarksons performance last night - as good as I thought it was (great song) what did I see last night??? That wasn't the girl that won the competition last year...that wasnt 'girl next door Kelly'...THAT was a Christina Augleira/Britney wanna be...uggghhhh....flippin *media standards* Is it just me or did she not look 1000 times better when she was on the show last year?!?

Madonna, she looked about a zillion times better last year. It killed me to see that whole stage show, hair and clothes. Why can't a girl just be the way she is? Why do people gotta go and try and change it.

I could understand the Tymara thing last season, but it still was a bit of a shock. This was another shock, and it stinks. AND I AM MAD!

I agree with you Miss Jasmine, Rickey should not have gone. It doesn't make any sense to me that Carmen was bottom 2 last week and this week she was safe. Not even bottom 3. Rickey came out of nowhere to be bottom 3, and that was his best performance.

I'm strongly thinking it has a lot to do with people voting to get rid of opposition first. Vanessa had a good voice, Julia, IMO, has a terrific voice just no self confidence.

Anyway just my thoughts. Apparently Robin Hood did come out to help Kim C.

I was so disappointed in how Kelly looked too.

She has such a phenomenal voice, showcase that. Not some lousy dancing (hers and the dancers).

Christina Aguilera co-wrote that song, so that's probably where the trash look came from last night.

And to be honest with you, I could'nt understand a word she was saying.

And I love Kelly!!! That was horrible.

...and now that you've told me Christina co-wrote - it all makes sense...that stupid white streaks on dark hair thing that Aguilera started - has GOT to go (IMHO - WAY worse then pink lip gloss)

She just looked *trashy* and I remember liking Kelly right in the beginning 'cause she was *a breath of fresh air* - first and foremost a voice that someone would kill for - but beyond that she was - not skinnier then a lollipop, not bleach blonder then the sand and not heavier on make up then Tammy Fay...(unlike SOME *artists* and I use the term *artists* lightly are today...)

But I have to say - based on what *American Idol created* of Kelly Clarkson last night??? I don't think that Clay nor Ruben should win...they have REAL talent - not fabricated like the Spice Girls...and their *real talent* will get lost in all that make up...if they want to *fabricate* an artist of who's left...I think that Carmen or Kim C is their gal...

I hate to say this but I am beginning to think our votes really don't count. If they did, wouldn't they release the results every week? And don't say that they don't because they are afraid it will scew the next weeks voting because obviously they don't care.

Yep I think they just want some one they can dress up like a doll, talent or not.

Didn't you hear Simon say to Carmen "you may not be the best female vocal in the competition, but you are the most marketable".

And unfortunately, that's where I think this is headed. It's not who has the most talent, it's who can make the most money.

I was looking forward to hearing a powerhouse number from Kelly. Something that showed off her beautiful voice. Not another Christina/Britney clone.

Too bad. Maybe you're right. It would be better if Clay or Ruben did not win this thing.

Allow me to step in and straighten things out for everyone First of all it seems that everyone is up in arms about Rickey being voted off this week when he should not have even been in the bottom 3. Have we all forgotten last weeks disco fiasco where everyone thought for sure that it would have been Josh and Ricky in the bottom 3. Instead they put Carmen there who I thought, as did my wife, that she had an amazing performance. I remember thinking when she was singing “Turn the Beat Around” that she should get through no problem because that was a hard song to do and that she nailed it. She was in the bottom 2, Josh and Ricky were safe? Yes it is possible that the 2 girls got more votes this week but also remember that 6 million more votes came in this week over last week. Was last night a fix – no way, you don’t get rid of a personality so that you can keep an obvious non-fan favorite on the show. I think they just lucked out because of last weeks show

As for Tamyra last year, please, America was just suck of that style the same way they will be of Treynce (am I the only one who thinks that it is weird that a total unknown only goes by one name).

As for Kelly last night. I thought the song was good, she looked good although no where near as hot as she did all of last year.

I think the real question hear is what will happen between Simon and Lionel

Boss, Hate to break it to you. CARMEN STUNK LAST WEEK AS WELL!!!!! Rickey did MUCH better than Carmen in the disco fiasco (face it, not one was spectacular). Don't give me that BS, she is just not that great. Do you always feel the need to disagree with me???

Newsflash: The producers and Simon want who is marketable. I don't think talent counts for much. I won't be surprised when some scandle comes out basically saying what I am saying. How are they being held accountable? Who is checking them out? Rickey was too nice to be marketable. Kids these days love trash and that is who is out there eating up all the music. When someone like Jay-Z who was a former DRUG DEALER is selling millions of CDs and is fawned over it really makes me realize how much this world is messed up. They make it sound so glamorous, he grew up in a rough neighborhood and he spent some time on the street as a hustler. HE WAS A DRUG DEALER, and no one cares. Heck my husband's ex-wife buys CDs for the kids from this guy (that would be a 10 and 11 year old).

Oh did ya hear that just cuz they kicked Corey off the show he can still tour with me since he already had a signed contract???? Nice. Try to save the "quality" of the show but it's the bottom dollar that really counts.

Random Thoughts:

Hated Kelly's hair - looked like a rat's nest - pity the poor fool who had to brush that gnarled mess out.
Loved Kelly's song - just edgy enough without being slutty - showed a good range in that it wasn't the ballad-y type of stuff that we all know Kelly can belt out.

Glad to see Ricky go - he was on my list of people who needed to go (but not my bottom 3 list I think). Eventually his time was going to come. Odd to see that Carmen wasn't in the bottom 3, but Kim C is fast becoming the new Nikki McKibben in securing a static place in the bottom 3. While Ricky is nice and is mostly talented, he's not the American Idol. He'll have some sort of career in music, no doubt.

Glad to see the show only last 30 minutes, didn't want to see any more of that product pandering that they love to display than I absolutely had to. Thought the filmed musical number was odd and slightly disturbing.

Did anyone catch what next week's theme will be?
