Gee sprinsteenmickey,

Didn't you tell me you were the "whipping boy" on this board??
:p ;)

Sounds to me like you handle yourself pretty well.

Boy you guys weren't kidding when you said you went at it.

Whoa!!

I was referring to edgy songs. Songs with a chip on their shoulder. I just kind of made it up at your expense because you seem like your in a mood and I thought what better way for you to let out your frustration than having you take it out on me. Am I not a nice guy or what?

Everyone please note all the smiley faces. It was my attempt at humor and to relieve some of Jas’s tension. :D

I don't consider anyone a whipping boy. Yes I have some rather strong opinions, and yes I am not afraid to express them. But I don't think I am being "witchy" in my presentation. Maybe I am wrong????

I guess maybe I have some different prespectives since I am in a constant battle with what my stepkids are listening to and watching. The more positive role models there are the better. And they are watching AI this season, so that is part of what is steaming me. I guess I should also say I spend more than 50% of my music listening, listening to Contemporary Christian music, so maybe I am a little out of the loop as to what is the thing today.

Jas, you are not being witchy at all. You are 100% with the music statement. Like I said I was just playing on what you said about me always having to disagree with you.:D

Jas, I can relate to being a "little out of the loop" on contemporary pop music. I can't stand to listen to it, but instead surround myself with the sweet, sweet vocal stylings of Steeeeeven (say it with a squeal) Tyler, and a laundry list of other not-so-new and a little offbeat stuff. But I have an ear for what sounds good and what doesn't, so that's what I base my AI opinions on.
The thing is, in order to be a success in the pop music industry these days, you have to be marketable. That doesn't translate into "you have to be skinny" but it does mean that there has to be something about you that is overall visually appealing to your audience. That could mean having an *interesting* hair style ('a la Pink), a bouncy chest (Ms. Britney, please stand up), a robust voice and edgy personal style (Christina, party of one), or boyishly charming looks and the ability to bust a move (phone call for Mr. Timberlake). Those are all marketable qualities of today's pop stars. Sadly, a top-notch vocal talent isn't always a priority in marketing pop stars.
So I suppose that's the beauty of a show like AI, where America gets to pick who they want to see gracing the covers of Spin, People, and Entertainment Weekly. While the winner will most likely be a cross-section of America's majority vote, not everone will agree that he/she will have deserved to win. That's when our purchasing power comes into play - simply don't purchase their new album and every other person who does the same thing will be contributing to less-than-stellar sales for that artist. Then it will be somewhat like getting a bit of retribution for not having your choice win.;)

Just to *get off* this AI topic for a little moment...:p

Jas - as for your comment about
I have some different prespectives since I am in a constant battle with what my stepkids are listening to and watching. The more positive role models there are the better.

I am putting that up as a favourite quote!!!:p

I can't believe the amount of trash that parents nowadays LET their kids watch/do...(My personal favourite is stupid parents letting their 10 and under child play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for PS2)

..and Jas - Boss...PLEASE don't ever back down from each other - we all know that everyone here's luvs everyone else...it's all about opinion (which we have the freedom to express) and I LOVE a good debate!!! (makes my work day go MUCH faster...)

Liz - this is all quite normal...and don't worry - no one takes it personal (unless it's about chocolate admirers..;) )

That being said "BRING IT ON!!!"

Boss - quit being mean!!!

Your gonna scare away our new players...

That's mine and Jas' job

;)

And Madonna dear, I must say this is a favorite quote as well:
this is all quite normal...and don't worry - no one takes it personal (unless it's about chocolate admirers)
OMG I have tears running down my face from laughing so hard.

Oh by the way the ex-wife is one of those bought the ten year old Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for Christmas.

psst - mlcar - talk to Jas...she's pretty darn good at finding Tink!

I'm strongly thinking it has a lot to do with people voting to get rid of opposition first. Vanessa had a good voice, Julia, IMO, has a terrific voice just no self confidence.

Ok, I wasn't really all that happy to be back. But now I see I'm in the presence of another brilliant mind with impeccable taste. Welcome Lizzie.

Word has it that there WAS some monkeying around with the "votes" this week. Ruben and Clay actually sold some of their votes to Carmen. The result: Carmen, Clay and Ruben get booted like Corey. Losing three contestants in one week leaves the show in desperate need of talent so Julia gets reinstated. I can now start watching the show again.

What's this about a tour?? And more importantly, is Julia going to be in it?

Welcome back OT

Yes, Julia will be in the tour. By the way, she was at the AI show last night in the crowd. When asked what her greatest goal in life is she simply said, "to meet OT"

That was probably taped. We met in WDW this past weekend when she did the hand/feet prints at the GMR.

Ok, I wasn't supposed to leak this out, but one of the new scenes in the GMR features an audioanimatronic Julia singing movie tunes.
