Day 4 Friday 3/12
Today was supposed to be a park day. However, now that DH wanted to try TL I thought we should fit it in before the weekend. I will admit I was really anxious to go again too. I really enjoyed it here, and wanted more time.
I will give more MIL background here. The women doesn't own a bathing suit and she doesn't like the outdoors. So why on earth is she coming to Typhoon Lagoon??? I head off to rent a locker. DH asks if we can fit MIL stuff in too--- sorry no can do-- ours is jam packed (I think I was smiling as I said this. At this point each little thing I couldn't do that would accomodate her made me happy). Anyhow, we make our way to a nice 1/2 sun 1/2 shaded area. MIL kept DH rearranging about 50 chairs before she was satisfied. DS and I are so anxious--- first we want to do the family raft ride, but we really want DH to join us. Well after all the chair arranging, MIL decides it's time for a smoke break. I cringe knowing it's going to take her 20 minutes to walk there each way, plus the 20 to sit and smoke. We're talking an hour. By now I must be shooting darts I am sooo furious. DH suggests DS and I enjoy the wave pool for awhile and then we'll do gangplank falls. Well if looks could kill, he'd be dead. I sulked off. I was really getting mad. I tried to have a good time in the wave pool, but DS knew something was wrong. We decided to go back so he could play in the sand. Now let me tell you we live less than 1/2 mile from the beach. So I'm not sure why he was so amused with this particular sand.
Anyhow, about 1/2 later DH comes back to our little paradise alone. Says his mom will be along in awhile and that we are gonna do some waterslides. So, DH DS & I do Gangplank Falls. It was great. We do it again. The waits today are about 15-25 people, so it's a bit more crowded. But I'm sure still really slow compared to a summer day. The family raft ride is our favorite, but it's over with sooo fast.
DH decides to go check on his mom. DS and I head up the stairs for Gangplank Falls. We hadn't done this one yet. Once DS see's a glimpse of the slide he decides we shouldn't do it. He is concerned for my safety. Knowing he's embarrassed I play along and we jump over to the next slide. Only we have the wrong tubes now and have to make our way back down the steps. So another round of fighting our way back down the stairs w/ these inner tubes. Now, I'm not being difficult. But the inner tubes are indentical. Just different colors. The CM could of let us go down and just told us that next time we have to have the right colors. Those steps weren't made to accomodate 2 way traffic. So after retrieving the right tubes and going down the slide. We decide it's time for lunch.
Now DS has a germ phobia going on. He won't share food or drinks w/ ANYONE. We are all settled and I get him some ketchup for his fries. MIL dips a fry in-- well that sets DS off. Now, he's a bit tired I'm thinking but he basically tells her he ruined his whole meal. He was being a bit of a drama queen. She tells him that it's okay to share with "grandma" and so on. Only this makes things worse. DH and I have been together for 7 yrs. DS is from a previous relationship. DS is very, very close to my mom. In his head this is is ONLY grandma. He can't stand it when MIL refers to herself as grandma. So this sets him off again. My innocent little boy who was playing in the sand an hour ago just morphed into that preteen snot.
After lunch we decide we are going to head back to the shark reef. This was the #1 reason DH even wanted to come here. MIL was going to sit this one out, and DS really didn't want to do it. His options were to do it w/ me and DH or sit and wait w/ MIL. He begrudginly chose to wait w/ MIL. I was kind of disappointed. All the crowds were here and the sea life was staying away. I really wanted DH to have the expierience DS and I had the day before. It wasn't going to happen though. He said he liked it though and wasn't disappointed.
Next, was the straw began to break the camels back.....
