My DD15 and I will be at Disney in Feb. and my sister has decided she might want to come along (we have plenty of room in our room) but she would have her DD5mos. along with her and she's worried about everything that could go wrong with her daughter so young. Anybody out there with some experience with this so I can convince her to go with us. Then it would be a true "ladies only" trip!! :dance3:

We took our kids there at that age. It was a blast DD#1 ate her first food at WDW.
  • they give you a crib
  • We used a sling so the baby was up with us, not looking at kneecaps, and we could see reactions
  • They can ride alot - and what they can't ride, you use babyswap - added benefit dd15 gets to ride twice
  • put what you need for the day in a pack back and have a blast

Sling, sling, sling, sling, sling. That's my advice! We went when DD was 2.5 months old. We're headed back soon and she's 8 months old. We did take a stroller too, but it was our 3 year old who ended up using it. If I only had her with me, I would have not brought a stroller at all. I have a Maya Wrap type ring sling and it is wonderful. Cribs/pack 'n plays were not an issue since we co-sleep. Many of the parks have baby care stations. Though I'm fine breastfeeding my daughter anywhere and everywhere, she's easily distractable. The baby care stations were great for some air conditioning and quiet. (We went in May/June the furst time).

Gotta agree with the sling advice! It makes it so much easier to just walk around, stand in line, and hop on rides.

So many people think it's hard to take an infant, but it's very easy. In fact, we took 2....our twins were 4 mos old for their 1st trip! Their 3 yr old brother was more of a challenge than the babies. :) They're so portable. You just need to plan ahead for feeding, diaper changes, etc.

Thanks for all the great advice!! I'm going to tell my sister to read this post so she gets some ideas. I never even thought of a sling but it sounds like it works wonderful. I forgot about the baby swap which we did a few years ago when the whole family went. DD15 will get a kick out riding twice so now we really have to convince her to go.

reclinging stroller - let's you keep on going while the baby takes a nap - we also had a 15 year old w/a 6 month old and never took him back to the room - he just slept while we worked the parks -

one other thing - bring your own crib sheet for the pack and play - we covered the mattress in their sheet - but put our own over it - so that the baby would be used to smell of their own sheet - and we also used an extra sheet to line the side of the pack and play - this way no draft would blow on the baby when the older kids wanted a cool room -

It is actually one of the easiest ages to take a child. We started taking ours when they were 2.5 months. They are super easy until they start to get mobile then it becomes more difficult especially since most babies sleep pretty well in a stroller. We are taking DS next week and he is 5 months old. This is his second trip. The first was when I took all 3 kids with my sister and her DD. It was an awesome trip, I say go and have fun! One thing that made my life much easier was having groceries delivered to the hotel. This way I did not have to lug diapers, wipes, food, etc.

Don't forget to buy or bring water for formula, rice cereal, etc. The water at WDW did not agree with our 5 month old DS right away. We bought some bottled water on our 2nd day and he was fine the rest of the trip.

My daughter never liked a sling, or being confined at all for that matter. We used a Baby Bjorn carrier instead and DD loved it.

Have a great trip - sounds like some high quality family time to me!
