Just returned from our first trip to DL with our son who uses a wheelchair. We have been to WDW many times but this was our first trip to DL and it was our experience that WDW does a much better job of assisting those with disabilities that DL. At WDW anytime a CM sees our son in his chair they will point, direct, or show us where we were to go for various rides. At WDW there are always CMs along to the alternative entrance to guide you but at DL it always seemed like you were on your own, in fact on the Indiana Jones ride we got to the end of the ride and our son's chair was still on the entrance side of the ride. My wife held him while I went back for the chair. In many trips to WDW nothing like this every happened...the chair was always waiting at the end of the ride.
Anyone else experience similar?
I was at
Disneyland about four weeks ago with my guy, and our friend. I agree with you on having to be on your own for where the wheelchair rider should go to, to get on the ride compared to the cast members showing you where to go at WDW. I was mad when I wanted to go on the Nemo submarine ride. But, my friend was worried about me having to climb down into the submarine without falling as I sometimes do. Plus, she was worried about herself being able to fit in the submarine because she's pooh-sized. Very pooh sized. They did let us go into the room where people in wheelchairs can view what people on the submarine ride see.
On a good note. If you ever go back to Disneyland. I highly recommend seeing the Aladdin show if you haven't seen it. It is very hilarious. My friend and I went to go see it when my guy was at California Adventure riding California Screamin over and over again. The guy who played the Genie was hilarious. I don't know his name. But, he's in a few of the
YouTube videos that I saw of the show, and I've seen people mentioning his name in their comments. My favorite part was when Aladdin asked him, "Who are you?", and the Genie replied, "I'm Justin Bieber in 40 years." I fell out of my wheelchair from laughing so hard as I was at what the Genie was saying before that.
My other favorite part was when he, and Jafar were standing side by side at the scene where Jafar rubs the lamp, and the Genie comes out. There were some hilarious parts before the really hilarious part where the Genie says, "Poof. You are the Sultan." He then cracks up laughing, and says, "And if your last name was 'Pepper Shaker'. You'd be Sultan Pepper Shaker." I just died right then because I was laughing so hard.
I actually have a YouTube video bookmarked on my computer of the show, and whenever I need a good laugh if I'm having a rough day. I turn it on, and then I'm in stitches from laughing so hard.
