WDW Vet's Nine Day trip to Left Coast, report started

I've enjoyed reading your report!! As you can tell from my siggy, I'm a WDW vet about to take my first DLR trip! And I live in the Triad, BTW.

Have a wonderful trip. It is so confusing to walk down Main Street, you first try and find the Castle ;) , then you wonder what happened to Caseys, then who moved the Plaza and made it bigger. Then thru the castle and to the left and where in the world is Philharmagic, and on and on. It is very disconcerting to have to use a map and not know where the restrooms are and to not know enough about the dining options to know where to grab a quick bite at the last minute.

But then, it is also exciting to know that Walt walked those streets. He was actually there. He added the magical touches and the quaintness. It is also so nice to have everything not spread out and to get from one attraction to another without feeling you have done the 1/2 marathon.

To me, the hardest decisions were on transportation. Which airport to fly into and how to get to DL from the airport. If you have that covered, you have done most of your work already. :woohoo:

Have a grand time, and don't try to do as much planning for DL as you do for WDW, there really is no need. And except for one or two places to eat, there is really no need for ADR's. If you have them great, if not don't stress. We only had one, at the Blue Bayou, for the entire trip, but we also weren't going for any character meals.

Love this! Yeah, I think we will definitely "feel" the differences (especially the lack of Philharmagic as that is one of my very favorites!)

But we also love the idea of this! That makes it so exciting to go there!

And it is the differences that make the two Parks magical in their own right. I really cannot wait to be able to compare the two!

But the cool thing is that there are enough differences to make it a whole new experience. We have been to WDW so many, many times that it was getting a little old to me. I never thought I would say that. But DL just gives a fresh look to some familiar things and adds some fun new experiences in there, too.

really enjoying the report......at the animation building did you make it down to Ursula's grotto? My family loves to sing and act out all the parts, plus it is cool!
