Hi ALL! :Just a budgeting thought and suggestion.

As my youngest son turns 10 years old this week, I started to reflect on the past trips to WDW with him, then the thought accorded to me that the next trip is going to cost ALOT MORE because of his age.
We had taken him every other year on average since he was 18 months and never thought of price increases until now.
Now I realize that his past trips to WDW were ALOT CHEAPER than the next trip after this week.
So, I suggest that any young parents try to get their youngsters to WDW before Age 10!
ENJOY!!!

Remember that days never expire on a hopper. You could buy a 7 day hopper and use one day when your child is 9 and the ticket will still be good the next time you go, even if he is 25 by then! Sounds like it's too late for you, but it might help someone else save a few $!! We're getting at least one more trip in before my middle dd turns 3 so she is still free!

We just got our PAP vouchers in the mail this week after I ordered them from Disney Club a little over a week ago. Our son turned 10 at the end of July. We've gone on 14 trips since he was 4 (we're DVC). And now he is an adult. It takes a little getting used to.

Which prices increase at age 10? Is it just the cost of park admission or is it also more expensive for a ten year old to stay at the hotel?

I believe it is just the tickets and buffet/character meals, kids can stay free in your room until they are 18 (someone correct me if I am wrong).

At 10 they are charged adult admission. However, they are not charged adult prices at the buffet meals. I believe they give them until 13 there. We were just at 3 of them last week. DS (10) was included in the # of children everytime. Which was a nice price break. It works that way even when you buy the disney package add ons. They call them Juniors-- but get the same rate as kids for meals.

I, too, am learning about the high cost of taking an "adult" child (translated: a 10 year old) to WDW! Jan will be our first trip to WDW, with our now little adult, and it is costing us more than the four trips we took when he was a "child". It's the park tickets that are the budget killer. I don't know about the rest of you, but I also have noticed that our DS is not always satisifed with a kids meal anymore either. He has moved from "Happy Meals" to "Value Meals" at McDonalds, and so often wants to order off the adult menu at sit-down restaurants. I am planning for our food budget to increase as a result on our upcoming trip!

Well I have found this whole '10 year old adult' thing annoying! My twins just turned 10, and now they have this great offer where kids stay and play free-----but-----they are no longer considered kids! So we can't do this! Boo Hoo!!!
