I read an item a couple of days ago - I can't remember which newsletter it was in now and I can't find it again - that says WDW is going to have an approved list of ECV rental companies that they will accept from and store at bell services. The article said that the "approved company" list hasn't been released yet but that it appeared that Buena Vista was approved but Walker was not. No other companies were mentioned. If not on the approved company list you will have to be present to meet the company when your scooter is delivered to accept delivery.

We have an ECV from Buena Vista reserved for our upcoming trip (28 days!!!) and I wondered if anyone else has seen this and had heard any more detail about it. I would hate to get down there to WL and find that Buena Vista wasn't an approved company and our scooter delivery procedures have changed. I'll contact them just to be sure but wondered if anyone else was aware of this new policy.

EDIT: I found it - it was in TouringPlans

"Starting November 1, Disney will only allow approved companies to drop off or pick up scooters at the Bell Stand or Front Desk. (Meaning, the scooter is waiting for guests when they arrive, and guests can drop it off there when they check out at the end of their stay.)

The list of scooter rental places approved has not been announced; however, it does appear that Buena Vista Scooters is an approved company.

One company that does not appear to be approved but is prevalent in the Orlando area is Walker Mobility Scooter Rentals. Walker will still be able to provide scooters by doing a meet-and-greet style pick up and drop off. Walker will require a guest’s flight information, as well as cell phone number. At their resorts guests must meet a Walker representative to take receipt of the scooter and to return it prior to their departure. To be clear, Disney cast members will not assist with the rental process by temporarily storing scooters from Walker Mobility or other “unapproved” vendors.

We’ll keep you posted as more news comes out."

Thanks Crash. This will be our first time renting a scooter prior to arrival, we've always just rented from the parks when/if my husband needed one.

Yes, we are already aware of this.

Since there is already a long thread about this, which the previous poster posted a link to, and the information is in post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs sticky, I am going to close this thread.

Buena Vista is one of the preferred vendor companies, so you will have no problem. You will still be able to get and ECV from one of the other vendors, but they will need to deliver and pick it up directly from the renter.
It's not that they are not 'approved'. It's that certain companies have been designated as 'preferred' and have the ability to drop off and pick up from Bell Services.
