What's the best route from WDW to MA. We drove down 90-84-81-77-26-95, etc. But we were thinking of going home 95 mostly all the way. Any thoughts on how this drive would be. We usually fly, so aren't too sure of what the best drive would be. Thanks.

We drove in April for the first time. We are in Southeastern Mass and did the 95 route both ways. It wasn't bad, a little boring scenery wise, but not bad driving. The ride back was a little longer as we hit road construction in Connecticut on a Saturday night.
Also, we didn't drive straight thru either way. We stopped in North Carolina for a night each way.

Best? :rotfl2:

There is none.

You could go I-95 all the way and get stuck in Washington DC traffic.

You could go Tappan Zee Bridge and later go for I-81 which is about a hundred miles longer.

You could skirt the DC area on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel and 301 and hit oodles of traffic lights.

Long long time ago, Rochester NY apparently was in political disfavor and as a result I-90 bypassed it with only a few spurs into that city. Today traffic sails by Rochester unimpeded. Whereas all the political pull put I-95 right through Washington DC and those of us not going to or from DC are stuck in the mess too.

We do both routes fromMass.to Hilton Head a few times a year.

In summer...definitely 81. Ride is beautiful and not much longer timewise. Plus there is always overnight work on 95 which means you can hit delays at 3am.

In fall or winter,we would go 95.

Hope that helps!

PS.Just noticed your route. From MA,we go 90 to 84 to 684 over Tappan Zee to 287 to 78 through Harrisburg..then south on 81. Saves quite a bit of time over 84 to 81 through PA.
