WDW tickets??

I just want to check before I go to disneyland you can use a day of a disney world pass at disneyland right??

Thanks.

Wow, that would be great. Where did you find out about this?
Please let me know if its been confirmed. Thanks.

it is allowed. But, it's not really a good thing to do, because DL tix are alot cheaper than WDW tix. If you have valid WDW tix, and you are SURE that you will not EVER be going back to WDW, then use them. If you are going back to WDW, it is better $ wise to save the WDW tix for WDW, and buy DLR tix for DLR. You cannot use DLR tix at WDW because of this.... Disney is smart!!!;)

If my math is right, it might be a good idea to use the WDW days if you have 10 day WDW no expiry park hoppers and you are planning a Disneyland trip of 1 to 3 days.

From Ticketmania the price of a WDW 10 day parkhopper with no expiry is $412 for adults and $376 for children. This comes to $41.20 and $37.60 per day respectively.

A Disneyland one day ticket is $63 for adults and $53 for children and doesn't allow park hopping. The WDW ticket is cheaper and allows for park hopping. A family of 4 would save $74.40 with the WDW tickets and be able to park hop. The savings over Disneyland 1 day park hoppers would be even more at $154.40!

A Disneyland 2 day ticket is $122 adults, $102 kids or $61/day adults and $51/day kids. The WDW ticket is still a cheaper option. A family of 4 would save $132.80 with the WDW tickets.

A Disneyland 3 day ticket is $159 adult, $129 kids or $53/day adult and $43/day kids. The WDW ticket is still cheaper but you don't get the option of an EE day. A family of 4 would save $103.20 with the WDW tickets.

A Disneyland 4 day ticket is $179 adult, $149 kids or $44.75/day adult and $37.25 kids plus it has the EE option for 1 day. At this point the WDW ticket is $0.35 more expensive/day for kids and only $3.55/day cheaper for adults. With a savings of only $25.60 for the WDW tickets it probably doesn't justify the hassle of using the WDW ticket (have to stand in line daily to redeem the days) and loss of EE entry option.

At 5 days the Disneyland ticket wins out over WDW tickets

I plan on going to WDW for 7 days and DLR for 3 days.

I've been doing my own math, and I don't find the savings you do.

A 7 day MYW with hopper is $255. A 3 day DLR ticket is $159 for a total of $414.

A 10 day MYW hopper with no expiration is $412, so if I use 7 days at WDW and 3 at DLR, I would only save $2, and, as you said, you don't get EE. That is definitely worth the extra $2!

I plan on just buying the tickets separately.

Well, I did say MIGHT ;)

It all depends on your travel plans. In your case it doesn't save you. But, what if you were planning one 2 day trip to DL and two seperate 4 day trips to WDW with park hopping. Buying the tickets individually would be $122 for 2 days at DL and two $252 4 day park hoppers at WDW for a total of $626 for the 3 seperate tickets. In this case the $412 10 day WDW no expiry hopper would save you $214.

I guess the savings would probably only kick in if you spread the 10 days over 3 trips, this would justify the expense of adding the noexpiry option.

Yep, it's all a matter of the math!

From my research here on the DIS, two trips to WDW of 5 days or less make the 10 day no expiry ticket the best deal.

Anything other than that doesn't really make it worth it, including using the tickets for DLR.

Yep...that's what we do for our 5 day trips. Plus, buying 10 days upfront ensures that you HAVE to go back for another trip!

For me it works out to use my WDW tickets. We bought 10 day non-expiring hoppers. It comes out to $161.18 a day for the 4 of us (3 adult tickets and 1 child ticket). We are going to DL for one day. If I bought DL tickets it would cost me $322.00 a day for the 4 of us. It works out for more days as well. If I bought a 3 day DL hopper it would cost me $591.00 for our tickets. Even if I used 3 of my WDW days it would only come to $483.54 for the 4 tickets.

I just wanted to add that we only get non expiring tickets......just in case someone gets sick or something. If you get expiring tickets for your WDW trip the above scenerio would probably not benefit you.

I am going to WDW and DLR in 2008, so I am trying to get the biggest bang for my buck.

Right but if you had bought 9 day WDW expiring hoppers at $265 and a one day DLR hopper at $83, you would only spend $383.

If you buy a 10 day WDW non expiring hopper you pay $412. That's $29 more than if you bought tickets separately.

I think this is the point. Since you only buy non expiring hoppers, you do seem to save money by using them at both places.

But, if you intend to go to both WDW (6 days or more) and DLR, you can save even more money by NOT buying non-expiry hoppers and buying tickets for each resort separately.

It is way better for you to use the last day of your WDW ticket at DLR than to just throw it out!!!! You will have to go to guest services when you get to DLR and have them change your WDW ticket into a DLR ticket before you can enter the parks. This will allow the computers to recognize the ticket and allow you to use the fastpass system. And if your WDW ticket is a park hopper, your DLR ticket will also allow you to hop. Park hopping is so much easier at DL than WDW, you just stroll over to the other park! Be sure to check out CA for a couple of hours, it is worth it! And remember, the fastpass systems are not connected, so you can have a FP at DL and one at CA at the same time!!! Have fun!!!
