WDW ticket transfer

I searched to find an answer but many posts were years old and Im not sure if this policy has changed at all. We have 3 day WDW tickets expiring Dec 31, 2019, as well as a Christmas Party ticket already purchased. Question is, can these be redeemed or transferred for any value at Disneyland? If it's possible, what are the implications?

Concerned about the Dec crowds with the Dec 5th announcement of Star Wars completion. Thank you.

While your WDW tickets may expire, they will still hold value, so, if you decide not to travel to WDW prior to expiration, you can always use those tickets to purchase new tickets at current value for a trip in 2020 or beyond. I would suggest saving any receipts, hard tickets and/or ticket numbers you may have associated with those tickets as, in my case, my expired tickets simply vanished from my MDE account. I had the receipts, so was able to give my ticket numbers to a CM to locate my tickets. Your Christmas party tickets are, technically, non-refundable, but there have been reports of WDW making exceptions to this rule. You can always call WDW ticketing to ask.

Definitely not.
I believe you can use the value of the tickets that expire at the end of the year to purchase new tickets if you do not end up using them.
The party ticket would go to waste.
You're really going to let a ride opening in one section of one park that will have already been open for a few months stop you from taking a trip? That just does not seem logical to me.

Not at all. We are definitely going either way to one park or the other. I had read a few years back that you could redeem WDW tickets at the Disneyland gates for passes. Since we have been to WDW 5 times now with our 4 year old, we thought maybe this would be a great time to explore Disneyland. Since it sounds as if this is no longer possible, we'll probably keep our plans just as they are but I absolutely expect higher crowds in all parks as a result of the second ride opening..and enthusiasts and others scheduling trips to when they can fully enjoy the new park section. All of our plans were made prior to the dates announcements of course. Not a huge deal, just thought it was worth considering since we want to go to Disneyland soon anyhow.

I understand where this idea is coming from. For many years, Disneyland unofficially allowed guests to use their unexpired WDW admissions for entry into the California parks. This was never a published policy, but rather it was being done as a courtesy for guests who had leftover days. Unfortunately, I don't know of any reports of people being able to do this in the last five years, which suggests that this no longer the practice.

To be frank, I was surprised that it was ever allowed in the first place, since the two entities report their financials separately.

It was very specifically stopped several years ago.

When it comes to all things tickets, Robo knows! :)

I left there about 8 years ago, and I believe we were still accepting them, so I'm definitely no longer on-the-inside.
